Recently made 200 pieces of rafflesias, totalling 1,000 petals, all handmade, one by one.

Inspired by the rafflesia which is a flower native to our Malaysian rainforests, known for its rarity, its boldness, and the way it blooms only when it’s ready.

No rushing. No forcing.

That’s something I’m learning to return to.

I’ll be stepping back from pop-ups for now, to focus on creating in a way that feels more aligned, something slower, more intentional, and still rooted in local stories.

Less noise, more meaning.

Beware of scammers impersonating government organizations!

Last Saturday, (18/10/2025) I was contacted through WhatsApp by this person to do 100 pieces of keychains from polymer clay. This person asked for my business license, bank statement, to fill up a JKKN registration form and a quotation from me for that order. After that, she sent me a purchasing order document for me to sign. I was already slightly suspicious at this point because:-
1. She whatsapp-ed me on Monday night at 8pm to remind me to send her the documents.
2. The specifications of the keychains was not discussed i.e. size, packaging, deadline to complete, payment terms.

Fast forward to today (22/10/2025), this person called me via WhatsApp to request for me to be a middleman and purchase 60 pieces of "bakul gift set" each priced RM 280 from a supplier she chose from. Meaning I would have to pay the supplier approximately RM 16k, and then only request the money from JKKN. Furthermore, the weird thing was that this person kept asking me to mark up the quotation from my company to JKKN, each piece of gift set to be charged RM 380. Meaning I would get a profit of about RM 6k just from being a middleman. At this point, she was extremely pushy, calling me every 10mins to hurry up and provide her with the documents or to sign the documents.

Here's what I did:
1. I checked the JKKN Sarawak website to check if "Rohana" really works there. (Of course not).
2. Next, I called JKKN Sarawak to check for Pn Rohana, as well as the 2 names listed in the purchasing order document. (Of course these 3 people don't exist).
3. The scammer gave me some excuse that "Rohana" was her nickname. In the end, I went to JKKN office in person, spoke to the head of department which confirmed to me that this is indeed a scammer. The document formatting was different from what JKKN usually uses, code was wrong, person preparing & signing was fake.

Conclusion, if it's too good to be true, always be careful! Be alert and double check when someone says who they are. As small businesses, scammers might think we are easy preys! So be smart and protect yourself! In this case, the scammers would have ran away with my RM 16k!
