Last weekend, the Merdeka 118 precinct offered a first glimpse into one of our upcoming cultural landmarks — the Merdeka Textile Museum (MTM).
_The Making of MTM_ marked the museum’s first public programme, bringing together the voices behind its creation for an intimate afternoon of sharing and connection.
From the research and curation of the Azah Aziz Collection to the museum’s architectural vision, exhibition design, and sensory storytelling, guests were taken behind the scenes of the ideas, inspirations, and work shaping the museum experience.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special afternoon and for being part of the journey towards bringing MTM to life.
Stay tuned as we prepare to open the doors to the Merdeka Textile Museum soon.

Old stories. Familiar streets. New memories made together. ✨
Echoes of Chinatown brought the spirit of KL’s old Chinatown back to life through performances, traditional arts, music, crafts, and shared community experiences at Kwai Chai Hong.
Supported through the Merdeka 118 Community Grants as part of KL Festival, the event celebrated the richness of culture and heritage while inviting visitors to reconnect with the stories that continue to shape our city today.

Kindly note that the Belfield Tunnel access via Jalan Syed Putra is temporarily closed until further notice to facilitate ongoing maintenance and repair works. Visitors and tenants are advised to use alternative routes when accessing the Merdeka 118 precinct.
