⚡ Big Change Coming for Malaysia's Electrical Industry!

Malaysia's Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga) has officially mandated a nationwide shift in electrical cable colour codes, moving from the old British standard to the internationally recognised IEC 60445 system — the same standard already adopted by the UK, EU, and Singapore.

Starting 1 January 2026, both old and new colour codes are permitted during the transition, but by 1 January 2029, full compliance becomes mandatory for all domestic, commercial, and industrial installations. This is more than just a colour change — it's Malaysia's strategic step toward global electrical safety harmonisation and Industry 4.0 readiness. 🔌🇲🇾
