A meaningful milestone marked by the grand opening of Village Grocer, now serving as a new anchor for the community.

An A&A transformation of two existing shoplots into a sales gallery and office, redefining the developer’s identity.

Using drainage cells and anti-climb fencing, the façade is
re-proportioned to create a distinct yet simple presence —
basic materials, rethought to stand apart from the context.

𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞- 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐮𝐛 @ 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐮 𝐊𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐧

Phase 2 extension of Metrioplace Petrol Station (completed 2+ years ago), this project explores a large single-floor commercial unit with simple yet attractive massing.

The architectural impact comes from a “just nice” level of treatment — carefully balancing BUDGET, MATERIAL, DETAILING, AND COMMERCIAL PRESENCE.

The space is intentionally kept open and flexible for future tenant fit-out and activity, with further refinement and activation to follow as the hub completes.

𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 @ 𝐑𝐚𝐣𝐚 𝐔𝐝𝐚

A small-scale intervention along Raja Uda’s longest commercial street, Material Forest explores how architecture can introduce something different into a familiar suburban context. The project transforms an existing building into a curated material library, where materials sourced from different contexts are integrated directly into space and architecture.

The core challenge of the project was questioning how typically messy, raw construction materials could be organised, experienced, and presented beyond a conventional trading house or showroom. Rather than hiding them, the architecture frames materials as part of the spatial narrative, turning process, texture, and imperfection into design intent, turning MESSY INTO BEAUTY.

Material Forest received a PAM Awards 2025 – Showroom Category (Commendation Award).

Glad to be invited as guest speaker for such a meaningful joint event with the Malaysia New Zealand Chamber of Commerce and Breezway Asia and Africa officiated by our PAM President, Ar. Adrianta.

The topic “Beyond Sustainability: Curating Architecture with Meaning” made the evening at our PAM Center KL especially meaningful — a chance to humbly share some of the efforts we’ve been initiating in the Northern region, pushing the boundaries of what ‘Sustainability’ can mean in design.
