Persatuan Aliran Kesedaran Negara (literally, ‘society for the flow of national consciousness’) was launched in Penang in 1977 by seven concerned Malaysians from different ethnic backgrounds. Aliran has a consistent record of championing democratic, political, social and economic reforms since its inception.
