Many parents notice that their child has flat feet and wonder if this is something to be concerned about.

Flat feet occur when the arch on the inside of the foot appears flattened, causing the sole of the foot to make full contact with the ground when standing. In young children, this is often a normal part of development, as the arch may still be forming.

Most children have flexible flat feet, where the arch appears when the foot is not bearing weight or when standing on tiptoes. This type is usually painless and does not cause functional problems.

However, in some cases, flat feet may be associated with discomfort, fatigue, or difficulty during physical activities. When this happens, further assessment can help determine whether additional support may be beneficial.

How your donation helps

Children with cerebral palsy often need to wear a medical device called orthothics. However, countless families in Malaysia are not able to afford a suitable pair of shoes that fit comfortably over their child’s orthotics.

To change this, ZIPZAP has made it our goal to help Malaysian children with cerebral palsy from underprivileged families to have access to adaptive shoes by BILLY Footwear (US). Specially designed, BILLY Footwear supports orthotics wearers and encourages proper foot development whilst looking 'cool'.

Through our “Changing Shoes, Changing Lives” Fundraising Campaign, we hope to raise RM90,000, which provides 500 pairs of adaptive shoes by BILLY Footwear.
