SE Asia's people back new nature goals, as nations bide time People living in three of the world's most biodiversity-rich nations in Southeast Asia strongly back efforts to protect 30% of the planet's land and oceans by 2030, according to a survey published on Thursday.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (24 February 2022) - Large majorities of people in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines are concerned about the biodiversity crisis, are aware of negotiations underway to create a global treaty to protect nature, and support a proposal to protect 30% of the world’s lands and oceans by 2030, according to a survey of 3,300 citizens of the three countries.

The ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity joins the panel on Sustainable Use and Health of Tropical Biodiversity in the International Conference on Tropical Sciences: Contributions to Sustainability. As a panel speaker, Dr. Arvin C Diesmos discussed Challenges and Opportunities in Managing the Natural Resources.
