Spatial Factors

Fragments of Time is an installation by Spatial Factors in collaboration with Topmix High Pressure Laminate, inspired by the ancient form of Stonehenge. Made of prismatic marble-laminated structures arranged in an elliptical circle, it creates a space for people to gather and reflect. As the sun moves, shifting shadows and light bring the installation to life, showing the beauty of time, material, and connection.

Spatial Factors Architects reimagines the Gong Pauh People’s Market as a vibrant community hub inspired by Terengganu’s ocean, crafts, and culture — blending tradition, sustainability, and local identity into a living space where people, nature, and commerce converge.

We are honoured to be one of the shortlisted finalist for the prestigious Asia Pacific Space Designer Award 2025 Project of the Year - Exhibition.

Whisper of the Wind — a sculptural installation that reimagines public space through sustainable design and community-driven placemaking. Crafted from recycled fishing nets, it celebrates Johor’s heritage while highlighting the power of design to transform waste into beauty and awareness.

“Whispers of Timber” is a bespoke installation exploring wood’s strength and flexibility, challenging traditional perceptions. Inspired by the delicate process of wood peeling, the sculpture reveals the material’s hidden fluidity and grace. Layers of wood unfurl like peeling bark, highlighting its malleability and artistic potential. Visitors are enveloped in a dynamic interplay of light and shadow, with each curve casting intricate patterns that enhance the space’s organic essence. This installation emphasizes the harmonious relationship between nature and craftsmanship, pushing the boundaries of material-based artistic expression.

Exploring the timeless narrative of clay tiles at the Terra Tapestry Pavilion, where history, space, and meaning converge. Each reclaimed tile tells a story, weaving past and present into a sustainable future. Our design aims to breathe new life into heritage materials. and in perfect harmony.

Gazing up through the suspended timbers of “Echoes Unbound,” visitors experience a seamless blend of architecture and nature. The interplay of light, shadow, and the surrounding elements creates a serene and immersive environment. This pavilion not only connects us with the earth beneath our feet but also inspires us to look upward, reflecting on the harmony between design and the natural world. 🌿🌤️

Exploring the timeless relationship between timber, space, and meaning at the Kuala Lumpur Architectural Festival 2024. 🌲✨ Our pavilion was selected to install at Titiwangsa Lake, reimagines recycled timber, blending nature with design to create a dynamic, sensory experience. Watch how light, shadow, and the natural elements play through suspended timber strips, connecting past and future in a harmonious dance.

We envisaged our design proposal for Pasar Awam Bukit Mertajam to be open, airy and filled with natural light instead of the dark, cramped spaces. This design approach not only enhances shopping experience but also significantly reduces energy consumption.
