Plastic pollution is the most widespread problem affecting the environment and also puts ocean health, food safety and quality, human health, coastal tourism, and climate change at risk. One of the most visible impacts is in marine life, because the ingestion of plastic, leads suffocation of hundreds of marine species. Plastic waste ingested by marine species enters their digestive systems, where it accumulates over time in the food chain. Contaminants are transferred between marine organisms and humans through consumption.

La contaminación generada por el plástico y sus residuos es de los problemas que más afecta al medio ambiente y también pone en riesgo la salud de los océanos, la seguridad y calidad de los alimentos, la salud humana, el turismo costero y el cambio climático. Uno de los impactos más visibles es en la vida marina, ya que la ingestión de plástico por los animales, provoca la asfixia de cientos de especies marinas. Los desechos plásticos ingeridos por las especies marinas ingresan a sus sistemas digestivos, donde se acumulan con el tiempo en la cadena alimentaria. One of the causes of plastic pollution is the way of disposing it and its excessive consume. Population growth increased the demand of plastics. Since it is a less expensive and durable material, people tend to use it in every way possible and suddenly throw it away.
The disposal of plastic is often mismanaged and it never disappears, it just gets smaller. Many of this plastic particles are swallowed by marine animals. Incineration of plastic in open fields is a major source of air pollution. We should start giving them a second use by recycling them.

Una de las causas de la contaminación excesiva de plástico se debe a que la eliminación del plástico a menudo se maneja de mala forma y nunca desaparece, simplemente se hace más pequeño.
