Governor Mauricio Vila announced yesterday after signing the economic reopening agreement that Yucatan is finally reopening starting on September 1st.

Here is the breakdown:

SEPTEMBER 1st

➡️ September 1st alcohol can be sold via delivery and in restaurants
Monday to Thursday until 10pm and Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 6pm

➡️ Shopping malls and Movie theaters Monday to Friday from 11am to 8pm

➡️ Touristic activities such as tour guides, travel agencies and adventure and diving operators.

(Arqueological Zones will be allowed to reopen when INAH-- the Federal institution of Anthropology and History-- allows....so not yet)

SEPTEMBER 14th

➡️ Gyms, sports centers and open area sports centers
➡️ Museums, libraries and art galleries

SEPTEMBER 15th

➡️ Churches

SEPTEMBER 17th

➡️ Traffic will be allowed to circulate from 5am until 11:30pm

SEPTEMBER 28

➡️ Gradual reopening of restaurant capacity according to the epidemiological results

OCTOBER 12th

➡️ Opening of convention centers and large business meetings.

It is worth noting that WE MUST CONTINUE TO WEAR MASKS AND USE SOCIAL DISTANCING: This reopening is mainly because Yucatan is at an economic breaking point. The numbers of Covid19 are going down, however, there are still many new cases every day and many deaths. We must adapt to the new norm and stay vigilant to stop the spread as much as possible of the virus.

So....wash them hands! Wear those masks and stay a Viking man lying horizontally distance away from each other. 🙂
