Brutus, emerging from a mass of mackerel scad (Decapterus macarellus).
Brutus is one of Guadalupe's male white sharks (Carcharodon carcharias). He has some permanent damage to tops of his front three gill slits on his right side that gives them a scalloped appearance.

The G.O.A.T. Cal Ripfin (aka Shredder) was one of the most photographed great white sharks on the planet in the first decade of the 2000s.
His inquisitive nature presented divers with plenty of photo opportunities over the years, prior to his disappearance after 2011.

Paul Walker, a 4.25m (14') male great white shark named after the late actor, catches some rays of sunlight just below the water's surface off the coast of Isla de Guadalupe, Mexico.
PW was my most consistently seen individual white shark during the final season of diving at Guadalupe in 2021. We saw him on all four of our trips to the island that year.

Keyser Söze, one of Isla de Guadalupe's male great white sharks, navigates through the mackerel scad filled waters off the volcanic island.
Keyser was first documented and identified at the island back 2014.

A distant look at Isla de Guadalupe's 'Brutus.'
Brutus is a male white shark, who was first identified at the island in 2016. His right pectoral fin is crimped a bit.
While not visible in this photo Brutus also has some permanent damage to the tops of his first two gills slits on his right side. He has white pigmentation on the left side of the lower lobe of his caudal fin (tail) that resembles the number 7.
