Please join us in welcoming (back) Isaac Hernández, who was recently appointed a principal dancer at San Francisco Ballet. Hernández is a familiar face to San Francisco audiences having performed with SF Ballet in 2010 before dancing with Dutch National Ballet and English National Ballet as a principal dancer. “I am very excited to come back to that wonderful company,” he says, “and to be part of such exciting and historic moment for the organization.”
Hernández was the youngest artist to receive an outstanding artist award from the Mexican President and was a laureate of Moscow’s Benois de La Danse 2018, one of ballet’s highest accolades. With his younger brother Esteban, also a SF Ballet principal dancer, Isaac founded Despertares, a ballet gala of international stars in Mexico that also includes conferences, workshops, master classes, and auditions.
Hernández moves to San Francisco with his wife Tamara Rojo, who joins SF Ballet late this year as its newly appointed next artistic director.
