Two lessons I learnt the hard way as a creative:

1. There is never going to be a perfect time to film any project or start any project. Start anyway and things will align as you go.
2. I am as good as I think I am. This is not a call to arrogance or bloated ego but a call to self realization and acceptance. This realization will motivate you to continually get better and more so it’ll guide the value (financial even) that you place on your work.

Premier Pro is not for the faint hearted. DaVinci resolve, I'm sorry for doubting you.

After hours of editing, everything just crashed. And it’s in the middle of the creative flow. Hours gone, just like that. And every time this happens, I’m set back, not just in time, but in every other project I have waiting. So, here’s a reminder to myself and anyone else—save often, turn on auto-save, use proxies, keep things backed up. Trust me, it’s worth it. This is more painful than a heartbreak.q

No more free designs

There will be times you’ll do everything you know to do, put all the settings in order and the image still doesn’t come out as you’d like and they’ll be times very minimal efforts will yield the most mind blowing results. Whatever the case, never stop giving your best.

You can’t do it alone. Better still, you can’t do much alone. Build network. Build relationships. Connect with people and work with them. Sometimes when you set up projects, invite collaborators and together achieve it. Most times, you’ll get more and do more as a team than as an individual. Stop trying to walk alone, you’re not Liverpool, you’re a filmmaker and a creative.
