PAF aims to motivate behaviour change towards sustainable multimodal transportation

Welcome to the page of Project Aegle; a non-profit initiative with a simple but powerful mission – To advance quality of life through improved mobility. Today, the Maltese Islands face a great challenge in the form of traffic congestion and parking problems. These cause economic losses in the hundreds of millions, as well as a range of preventable health problems. Project Aegle is intende

🧐Can students help shape safer and greener streets? YES!

🗺️ Between January and April 2025, students aged 12–15 from St Augustine College (Pietà) and St Michael’s School (Santa Venera) took part in hands-on workshops as part of the MYMOBILITY project.
They explored sustainable mobility and urban street design, walked around their school perimeters, collected and analysed their walking experiences, and used digital tools to redesign their streets with safety, confort, and people in mind.

📣 The highlight? Presenting their findings and proposals directly to local decision-makers : Mayors of Pietà and Santa Venera, the Local Councils' Association Malta , Nature Trust – FEE Malta, the University of Malta and Friends of the Earth Malta

🙌 Both mayors actively engaged and listened to the students’ insights, offering thoughtful feedback, and committing to explore some of their proposals.

🌍 Co-funded by the EU, MyMobility project is a collaboration between Project Aegle Foundation, Walk21 Europe, Cyprus Energy Agency

PAF - who are we?

PAF’s mission is to advance sustainable mobility solutions improving Malta’s traffic situation, thereby enhancing quality of life and environmental conditions for the Maltese population.

Malta today is facing problems with high traffic volume, parking shortage, deteriorating environmental conditions and public health concerns attributable to CO2 emissions and other pollutants from transport. Those are linked to massive costs for the Maltese economy and general well-being of the population. As a response, numerous sustainable mobility solutions have been introduced to commuters in Malta recently. While these initiatives are predominantly positive and early adopters are gaining momentum, car dependency is still considerably growing. PAF’s main aim is to change this trip by trip through a variety of initiatives and projects. PAF is a sustainable mobility NGO founded by a group of forward thinking individuals in the mobility sector. Founded in 2016, it became a registered foundation and voluntary organisation in 2018. Its operations are supported at arms length by the Debono Group.

Our strategic objective is that:

Malta’s collective use of public spaces is improved, ensuring accessible and sustainable multimodal mobility.
