Second Chance Horse Rescue

As we prepare for the 5️⃣th truck of the year leaving Malta for the UK with 11 horses on board 🇲🇹➡️🇬🇧 we had our traditional farrier visit today to get all those hooves sorted before the big journey 🤩🐴

Yesterday was all about vaccines and travel health certificates 🩺💉, meaning we are now almost completely ready to go just one final spa day left on Monday to bath all the horses 🧼✨ and then we hit the road that night 🙌🏼

11 horses. 11 new homes. 11 more spaces open at the yard for new ones. Let’s go! ❤️‍🩹🇬🇧🐴

Our main gate has finally arrived 😁😍 We genuinely can’t wait to see how many horses will pass through this gate over the years to come and where many of them eventually leave again towards a completely different life 🤞🏼🇬🇧

The exciting part is that we are not finished yet! 🥰 Next week we will be adding a few more finishing touches including our official SCHR entrance sign and a pedestrian access door. We genuinely can’t wait to show you all the finished result 😍

High Handed is a 15 year old Swedish gelding with the sweetest nature. He absolutely loves people, enjoys the company of other horses. We have already shared some ridden footage but we are heading out again tonight to get fresh videos. 🆘 Please help us reach the €2000 target for the truck leaving Malta in 4 days time ‼️🙏🏼

We have a full truck of horses leaving Malta and we still are so far behind on raising funds towards it 😰

We know we won’t be able to raise the full €5,500 needed for the truck but atleast if we get to cover €2000 we have just slightly less than half of it covered 🙏🏼

We want to save and help as many horses as possible but unless we don’t get to cover some of the truck we are going to fall very behind on bills and won’t be able to spare more for the horses waiting to come in and those residing with us. SCHR Followers, this one is on you ❤️‍🩹 Please take a minute to read.

Many of you will remember Tom and the state he arrived in back in April. We didin’t put much emphasize about him but Tom but came to us severely underweight. We spent the last few months slowly rebuilding him one day at a time and today we finally have some amazing news. Tom has found himself a home in the UK and is due to travel in the next couple of days so time is really ticking now and we don’t have much time left to fundraise ⏰🇬🇧❤️

Now here's what makes his story so special. Tom is 19 years old. Finding homes for older horses is never easy. Finding a home for an older horse that arrived in the condition Tom did is even harder. Yet somebody saw beyond his age beyond his condition and offered him the retirement he truly deserves. Tom still isn't where we want him to be physically. He has more weight to gain and more healing to do but we know that once he steps off that truck and onto green grass and in his loving home that are very eagerly waiting for him, his recovery will only continue. His future is finally looking bright. The only thing standing between Tom and that future is funding the truck. We are only a couple of days from the truck leaving Malta and we are still significantly behind on transport costs 😰 We desperately do not want anyone to stay behind so really would love to raise funds towards this truck.
