Today, Malta marks Freedom Day (Malta), a proud moment in our nation’s history. On March 31, 1979, the last foreign military forces left the islands, bringing an end to centuries of strategic occupation and marking Malta’s full sovereignty.

From the time of the Knights of St. John to later British rule, Malta’s location made it a key military base in the Mediterranean. Freedom Day represents the moment we truly stood on our own—independent, resilient, and united.

Today, we remember this milestone with ceremonies, wreath-laying at monuments, and a deep sense of national pride. 🇲🇹✨
