We are the UN Peacekeepers from Bangladesh Police for The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).
Our working area is at Bamako, the capital city of Mali. We are introduced as "BANFPU-1(Rotation-8) MINUSMA". The United Nations (UN) Peacekeeping helps countries navigate the difficult path from conflict to peace. Peacekeepers protect civilians, actively prevent conflict, reduce violence, strengthen security and empower national authorities to assume these responsibilities. This requires a cohere
nt security and peacebuilding strategy that supports the political strategy. Bangladesh Police has been contributing to peacekeeping & peacebuilding operations all over the world under the UN DPO umbrella with pride and dignity since the Commencement of the deployment of its personnel to different UN Peace missions. It all began in 1989 when it left behind its glorious chapter by participating in the United Nations Transition Assistance Group (UNTAG) in an African state named Namibia – ever since, success stories have flourished the fame with the adventurous in 23 UN Missions to date. Our 22 brave-hearts, sacrificed their supreme in peacekeeping operations while serving in the mission areas under the UN umbrella to uphold the name and fame of their motherland. That is the level of dedication that eventually proves the firm commitment of the Bangladesh Police in ensuring peace and security around the world. The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) was established by Security Council resolution 2100 on 25 April 2013 to support political processes in that country and carry out several security-related tasks. Since the commencement of MINUSMA, Bangladesh Formed Police Unit (BANFPU) has sincerely contributed to this mission. The members of BANFPU-1(Rotation-8) arrived in the mission area, Bamako, on January 14, 2022, and currently working here as peacekeepers.
