A year ago I discovered a magical city.. full of mystery, beauty, and wonder. It’s known as the blue city. Wonder why? 🤪 There are many theories of why the city is blue. Some say it was painted blue by the Jews who settled there after fleeing Hi**er. (Blue = sky) Others say it’s to keep the mosquitos 🦟 away, while some just said blue keeps the buildings cooler in the hot ☀️ sun. Chefchoauen is located in the Rif mountains. School is about to start back! 📝📓 My hope for the new year is that I can provide a positive environment for my students. I want them to grow, feel safe, question, and learn. 🌍 I love teaching about all the unique places on our planet! Here are pictures from a public school in Rustenburg, South Africa 🇿🇦. Wish I could of spent more time with them! Many of them speak several languages. This school teaches in both Afrikaans and English. ⛩Fushimi Inari-Taisha shrine. Home to many Torii Gates ⛩. How did they get there? Businesses and individuals donated them ⛩. They were grateful for the luck 🍀 and prosperity 💰 and were hoping for more good fortune 🔮. The black lettering are names and dates of the donors. This shrine is dedicated to Inari, a Shinto god of (you guessed it) prosperity 😁 and rice 🍚. The god is represented by a fox 🦊. It’s a beautiful hike with great symbolism. 💜 @ Fushimi Inari-taisha

Kiribati 🇰🇮 is the first country to encounter the New Year. Unless date lines change, the uninhabited Caroline island will always be the first landmass to see the New Year even though they are about 5° further EAST of Hawaii's Big 🌴 Island. Hawaii is a whole day behind! 🙀 Thank you for the cool information and post.
