🍁 Some hikes are all about the trail. Others are about the people you meet on it.

Our Sunday in Redange was full of moments that are hard to plan: conversations that started on the trail, people laughing together, spontaneous encounters and one very unexpected meeting with the Kropemann right before Kropemannsfest itself! 👀

Refugees, newcomers and local residents came together for a day that was as much about the people as it was about the place. And somewhere between the first steps and the last photos, a group of strangers started to feel a little more like friends.

🏃‍♀️ There is nothing quite like starting a day surrounded by runners, good energy and a great cause.

Last Saturday, Sportunity took part in Lëtz Go Gold, a charity run organized by the Fondatioun Kriibskrank Kanner to support research into childhood cancer.

As part of our Move&Grow programme, we team up with our corporate partners to create opportunities for refugees to get active, try something new and connect with local community through sport. This time, we joined forces with Fidelity International for a day of running, meeting new people and sharing the experience.

The morning started with a breakfast, giving everyone a chance to meet, chat and get to know each other before the race. Then came the group warm-up, some last-minute excitement and finally, the starting line!

Some ran 1.5 km, some 5, some 10, but everyone brought their own energy to the day. From the first conversations over breakfast to cheering each other on along the route, it was a great way to spend a Saturday together.

A big thank you to Fidelity International for making this collaboration possible and for welcoming our participants into the team. We are looking forward to more activities together!

🌰 Autumn in Luxembourg comes with castles, countryside walks and a whole lot of walnuts.

On October 11, our next Chemins croisés hike will take us to Vianden, one of Luxembourg’s most picturesque towns, for the traditional Veiner Nëssmoort walnut festival.

We will spend the day exploring the countryside around Vianden on an 8.5 km trail, before getting a taste of the local festivities. The walnut market is a chance to see a different side of Luxembourg’s traditions, enjoy seasonal specialities and experience a local celebration together.

As always, this is a multicultural hike bringing together refugees, newcomers and local residents. Whether you are here to walk, meet people, discover a new place or simply spend an autumn Sunday outdoors, you are very welcome.

🍁 October is just around the corner, and our regular sports activities continue throughout the month!

If you are looking for a chance to move, learn something new, meet people, or simply make some time for yourself each week, come and join us. All our regular activities are free and open to people with refugee backgrounds living in Luxembourg.

Here’s what is on the schedule in October:

🥋 Karate with Alireza – Thursdays at 16:00
A welcoming session where you can work on coordination, confidence, movement, and new skills. No previous experience is needed — just come and give it a try!

🧘 Pilates with Tanya Vernygor – Saturdays at 14-00
A weekly session to strengthen your body, improve flexibility, and take some time to recharge. Open to all levels.

⚽ Kids' Football with Yurii Feshchenko – Saturdays at 14:00
For refugee children aged 8–16. A chance to develop football skills, stay active, and enjoy playing and learning together.

⚽ Adult Football with coach Andrei – Saturdays at 14:00
Weekly training and friendly matches for all levels. Whether you have been playing for years or are just looking to get moving, you are welcome to join.

What turns a place you live in into a place you belong to?

We believe it starts with getting to know the people around us, their stories and the traditions that shape the place we live in, and having the chance to experience them first-hand.

Our multicultural hiking programme, Chemins croisés, brings together people with different backgrounds who might otherwise never meet: refugees, newcomers and local residents.

We walk together, talk, share experiences and discover places that are part of Luxembourg's heritage. And along the way, local traditions become a shared experience that brings us together.

At the Drauwen-a Wäifest in Grevenmacher, we learned about a grape harvest celebration that has been part of the Moselle region for generations. We watched the parade, met the W**e Queen and her court, and joined in the atmosphere of a local celebration.

Step by step, Luxembourg becomes more familiar, and shared experiences become part of our own stories too. 💛

👀 What does a mythical creature have to do with our next hike? Join us and find out!

On September 27, we are heading to Redange for the Kropemannsfest, a colourful folk celebration that takes place here every year.

It is exactly the kind of day we love: refugees, newcomers and local residents coming together, getting out into nature, meeting new people and discovering Luxembourg’s traditions along the way.

We will start with an easy 8 km trail through the surrounding countryside. And then we will head to the Kropemannsfest and discover more about this unique Luxembourg tradition.

The celebration brings together local crafts, jewellery, food and entertainment. And, of course, Kropemann himself - a mysterious figure from Luxembourgish folklore, said to live in the local rivers and ponds and traditionally used to warn children not to get too close to the water.
