We recently had a chat with our Sales Director, Helmut Gerhard. He told us what skills are needed and what success looks like for sales at a fast growing company. Read below to find out more about his experience at Nexpay:
💡 What skills are important in this position?
There are many skills that a good salesperson should have, regardless of the position you chose. But if I have to pinpoint specific ones, I would say it's strong problem solving skills, being able to negotiate and meet the expectations of all involved parties. And most of all, the ability to express yourself from different perspectives (your own, the companies, and the clients).
🚀 Advice on how to be successful in your position?
The name gives it away - you direct different aspects of the process of sales, which results in both the Company and the Client being satisfied. So to succeed in this position, you have to not only own your own work and take responsibility for what you create and sell, but also be supportive of the people you manage and mentor. Together, you build meaningful relationships both internally and externally, because, after all, sales is about people. Add the right mindset of always wanting to learn more, and you have the recipe for success!
🤝 Memorable experiences from your time in Nexpay?
There are a lot of memorable experiences. But the chance to visit different industry events, meet existing and new clients and learn about so many types of businesses, is the most memorable for me.
📈 What do you like most about Nexpay?
The feeling of growth. If it's about me as a professional, the team, the company as a whole, or the clients I am working with. There is a constant feeling of growing.

We recently had a chat with Simona Adomaitytė, a deputy MLRO (Money Laundering Reporting Officer) at Nexpay. Simona told us about her experience at Nexpay, how she found us, and what skills are important at this position. Read her full story below!
🚀 How did you come to Nexpay?
Accidentally, my eyes caught the job description on LinkedIn. Even though I wasn't actively looking for a new job at the time, I was open to the idea of fresh challenges. After the interview with the managers I was actually crossing my fingers to get in. I was really impressed by the company's culture, freedom, ability to express your mind and leave a mark on company and processes.
💡What helped you to get this position?
I'd say, the key ingredient here is hands-on experience, but it's not just about having it. You've got to show you can put it to good use in the company. Everything worth having requires effort, dedication, and perseverance. Yet, I believe that my personal characteristics also played a big role, since I had a very versatile experience in my AML Journey. Which, let's be real, was kind of short at that time. But, I had grown from Officer to Deputy MLRO. It showed that I’m always eager to learn, can adapt quickly to different situations, take responsibility and am willing to improve.
📊 What skills are important in this position?
In the shoes of a Deputy MLRO, it's crucial to have a well-rounded set of skills. This means being detail-oriented, having a deep understanding of regulations and excelling at data analysis. Also you need to communicate effectively, stay chill when things heat up, and embrace continuous learning. Balancing these skills ensures success in this complex, continually changing realm of financial compliance.
🎉 Memorable experiences from your time in Nexpay?
There were a lot of truly memorable experiences. For example facing challenges, when we didn't just overcome them, but turned challenges into chances to learn and improve. What I also like the most, our workplace has a sense of playfulness. From the occasional office pranks that brought laughter to the office to the organized team-building activities that fostered stronger bonds, these moments were essential for maintaining a balance in our professional lives as well.

We recently had a chat with Ralfs Braunfelds, a software developer at Nexpay. Read below to find out about his experience at Nexpay, how to be a successful software developer and what skills are important.
🧑💻 How did you come to Nexpay?
A close friend of mine was working at Nexpay, and his stories of the product and the team environment caught my attention. My whole journey as a software developer has been in the Fintech world, so the chance to further sharpen my skills while also exploring the crypto world resonated with me. Also, as a proud Latvian, the chance to help a company from the Baltics grow and expand internationally was the final push.
💡 What skills are important for this position?
Software developers tend to have a very specific way of dealing with issues in their lives. They get frustrated, but know how to harness it and fuel their motivation to fix them. A software developer will face annoying issues on a constant basis, so it is important to keep motivation up.
Paradoxically, a software developer must be very independent but also a team player. They need to be resourceful and quickly find solutions on their own (effective Googling is an underrated skill). Yet you need to remember that there are plenty of other developers working on the same code base, so communication and collaboration is key.
Lastly, I'd like to mention a skill that I rarely hear associated with software developers - creativity. Like designers use creativity when designing interfaces that are intuitive to end-users, software developers need to write code that is intuitive to other developers and easy to build on for future changes.
🔍 Advice on how to be successful in your position?
If you want to succeed as a software developer, my main suggestion is to become a jack-of-all-trades, but master of one. You should have a sub-field you are an expert in, but always keep an open mind and take every chance to learn about tech outside your comfort zone. I believe this is a characteristic that has given me an edge in many job interviews.
If you're a backend developer I urge you to take those frontend tasks now and then.
Time and experience should contribute to your clairvoyance and sense of code quality. A good software developer can anticipate how the product will likely change in the future and identify potential issues with design.
🚀 What do you like most about Nexpay?
The most redeeming quality is that Nexpay places a lot of trust in their developers. We have time to work on what we feel is important.
After only 6 months I'm already trusted with time to research and implement improvements I've suggested and work on the tasks I want to do.
🏃 Memorable experiences from your time in Nexpay?
I cherish all the wholesome conversations I had on the hike at the summer team-building event and I'll never forget that pole climbing activity.

Today is the global company culture day. Culture is important for companies because it has a profound impact on employee well-being, productivity, innovation, customer relationships, brand perception, and overall performance. A well-crafted and nurtured culture can be a strategic asset that sets a company apart.
Even though culture can be hard to define and pin down, at Nexpay we have defined our core values as:
🤝 Trust - trusting and being trustworthy in interactions both internally and externally
💪 Ownership - over our projects, actions and attitudes
🚀 Be daring - being ambitious, showing initiative, driving change and leading by example
⏰ Respecting time - being responsive, making quick decisions to move fast and create great things
🗣️ Maximizing transparency - communicating dynamically and constantly, making information available, and using data to drive our decisions.
Though we have the values defined and in use for some time, we recently started an initiative to bring these values to life in our daily interactions.
