We are proud to introduce WYDE (Women and Youth Democratic Engagement), a new weekly column dedicated to sharing inspiring stories of people making a meaningful difference in their communities.

Under the theme “60 for 60,” the column will feature 60 remarkable stories celebrating women leaders, men championing women’s empowerment, and persons with disabilities whose contributions continue to inspire, empower and shape Lesotho.

For our first WYDE feature, we meet Hon. Tšepang Tšita Mosena, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, who shares her leadership journey, reflects on the importance of democratic participation, and discusses the vital role women play in driving positive change.

Through WYDE, we hope to spotlight voices, experiences and achievements that inspire greater participation and remind us that meaningful change begins with individuals who are willing to lead, serve and make a difference.

Political participation is more than voting. It is about having a voice in decisions that affect our communities, our development and our future.

When women, youth and persons with disabilities participate meaningfully in leadership and governance, democratic institutions become more representative and responsive to the needs of all citizens.

Through the Race for Parliament initiative, 𝐖𝐘𝐃𝐄 is helping equip future leaders with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to engage in democratic processes and contribute to national development.

Because leadership should reflect the people it serves.
