This art inspired Koranta-Tlhaku, another story narrate track I dedicate for kids from my upcoming album Trust Own Palate.
"Koranta" meaning a newspaper or headlines, whereas "Tlhaku" implies a name of a place such as Basutuland or Ntsoana-Tsatsi of all Origins in the past. The title of the song in simple english reads "The Headlines of Tlhaku".
The song starts with a remarkable introduction to the place Tlhaku and it's people on verse 1. The twist in cultural history, religion as well as known tactical warfare skills as "Mepepele" set foot to "Tlhaku" for the first time. The King makes a request that all men gather to prepare for war against their common enemy after being alerted by the spies of the plan to invade "Tlhaku" by "Mepepele". We also get to learn about the traitors and people involved in the invasion of Tlhaku.
An info complex delivery is on verse 2. The narrate during the time of war. I introduced a simile and personified word play with basic Basotho handmade tools and weapons as the names of the generals, commandos and leaders of the regiments (mabotho) in preparation for the war, SEKELE, THEBE, MARUMO, MELAMU.
Each commando, general honored for preparing his men to fight for the King and their homelands "Tlhaku". Mepepele in this manner are evildoers, murderers, rapers, sell-outs and etc who we then later learn they lost the battle on first encounter with Tlhaku people. They fled the battlefield after the loss but never surrendered. Then what happened next is the most devastating events when they stomped and invaded Tlhaku once again unannounced finding it's people unprepared celebrating, every men fit to hold a spear to war drunk and relaxed as it was a ceremony like any other. Tlhaku lost and it's people surrendered resulting into a colonial state.
