(Short-Term Insurance Commercial & Personal Lines)
Are you an experienced insurance leader ready to drive operational excellence and portfolio profitability? Thaba-Bosiu Risk Services is looking for an Underwriting Manager to lead our Short-Term Insurance Department!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead technical & operational underwriting across commercial & personal lines.
Manage portfolio risks, loss ratios, and pricing strategies.
Direct and mentor the underwriting team.
Drive workflow automation and operational efficiency.
Handle complex underwriting escalations and maintain key insurer relationships.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
IISA Registration: Active member in good standing with the Insurance Institute of South Africa (Licentiate/Associate/Fellow preferred) Non-negotiable.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, or Business + Higher Certificate in Short-Term Insurance.
Experience: 5–7 years in Short-Term Insurance underwriting + 3+ years in a supervisory/managerial role.
Skills: Deep technical knowledge of short-term products, strong analytical mindset, and proven negotiation skills.
