Friday morning People of Matsieng woke up to the news that a truck had killed a horse.

On Friday 19-December-2026 a truck travelling downwards from Matsieng royal houses knocked down a horse. The horse had it's intestines produding outside it's body.

Eyewitness told this publication that the horse got scared and the truck hit it with it bakkie as it passed it. The owner of the horse could not speak as he was highly angry with emotions.

It is not known what will happen to the horse as Christmas day is left with six days, whether it would be buried or some people will cut it into pieces in order to make tried meat. Horse is eaten in some parts of the country but it is not known whether the owner will eat it.

Fields look promising

The year 2025 looks encouraging when one cast his/her eyes in the land.

Few farming fields look fallow as many fields have been cultivated or a being planted now to ensure food security. The Agriculture ministry has been allocated over L 1.5 Billion in the three consecutive years but had shown little results of that money allocated to it.

But this year there are summer showers that are being experienced by the country and many farmers are going to the fields to ensure that the production of Maize, Sorghum and beans is there without any excuse.

A farmer from Mahloenyeng Taemane Thakalekoala was administering top soil fertilizer to some maize stalks that don't have green colour. His maize looks healthy though in the majority of the field.

"I think everyone is planting and making sure that they tilt the land to ensure food availability. For the past three years agriculture was not good but we are hoping to harvest something this year," Thakalekoala

Agriculture minister Thabo Mofosi has recently encouraged Basotho farmers to ensure summer groping and cultivation. He has told the farmers to approach banks to borrow money for Agriculture but the process seems to be challenging, some farmers are complaining on the local radio stations.
