International Youth Day 2026 Under the Theme: Different Contexts, Common Aspirations
Today, we commemorated International Youth Day through both youth dialogue and community action.
We engaged Hlotse high school students in an interactive discussion on location and success, where young people reflected on an important question:
Does where you come from determine how far you can go?
Through focus group discussions and debate, students shared how different environments, opportunities and challenges can shape young people’s journeys, while recognising that many young people still share common aspirations — quality education, meaningful careers, financial independence and the opportunity to contribute positively to their communities.
Alongside these conversations, we also joined hands with organization for a community cleaning campaign, turning the spirit of International Youth Day into practical action. The activity demonstrated that young people are not only voices in conversations about change, but can also be active contributors to cleaner, stronger and more responsible communities.
💬 Different starting points. Different realities. Common dreams. Shared action.
As we commemorate International Youth Day, we celebrate the power of young people to speak, participate and act in shaping the communities and futures they want.

Audacious Leaders Network (ALN) had the privilege of attending the Sebabatso STEAMING Information Session at Leribe Hlotse, a platform that brought together young people, innovators, and changemakers to explore opportunities in science, technology, engineering, arts, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
These spaces are more than just information sessions, they are where ideas are nurtured, connections are built, and dreams begin to take shape. We encourage all young people to take advantage of such opportunities, ask questions, network, and learn. Today's inspiration could become tomorrow's breakthrough.
Together, let's continue creating a generation of young leaders who turn bold ideas into reality.

As part of the Youth Power Hub Initiative, Audacious Leaders Network (ALN) is inviting young people to help shape a Civic Engagement Toolkit that will empower youth to actively participate in governance and decision-making processes.
Your voice matters! Come test the toolkit, share your ideas and experiences, and help us create a resource that truly reflects the needs and aspirations of young people, especially young women, youth with disabilities, and other marginalized groups.

Audacious Leaders Network was honored to attend the Women’s Peace Leadership Forum and Partnership Launch, a platform dedicated to amplifying women’s voices in peacebuilding and community development.
The discussions reinforced the importance of creating spaces where women can lead, influence decisions, and contribute meaningfully to building peaceful and inclusive communities. When women’s voices are heard, communities grow stronger and the foundations for lasting peace are strengthened.
As the 2026 Accountability Summit comes to a close, we applaud the Government of Lesotho for creating a platform where citizens could engage directly with leaders, ask questions, and receive responses on issues affecting our nation. Initiatives like this strengthen transparency, accountability, and public participation, and we believe they should become a regular feature of our national governance.
As a youth-led civil society organization, we welcomed the opportunity to ask questions and have our voices heard. While some of our concerns were addressed, we remain concerned that young people continue to be left behind in key national processes.
The National Youth Development Bill has been under discussion for a long time, yet it is still awaiting passage. Without this important legislation and without a functional Youth Council, meaningful youth participation remains limited. It also becomes difficult for civil society organizations and young people to monitor progress, engage government effectively, and hold institutions accountable for commitments made to the youth of Lesotho.
As we move beyond the summit, we respectfully call on the Government to publish a post-summit accountability report outlining the commitments made, clear timelines for implementation, and measurable indicators of progress. Such a report would enable citizens, especially young people and civil society, to track implementation and contribute to a culture of transparency and accountability.
Accountability should not end when the summit closes. It should continue through action, measurable progress, and regular engagement with the people.

🚀 Exciting News!
Audacious Leaders Network (ALN) is pleased to announce that implementation of the Strengthening Youth Participation in Governance Processes Project is now underway!
We are currently developing project tools, engaging key stakeholders, and building partnerships that will help create meaningful opportunities for young people to participate in governance and decision-making processes within their communities.
This project seeks to empower youth with the knowledge, skills, and platforms needed to actively contribute to shaping policies and development initiatives that affect their lives.
Over the coming months, we will be working closely with government institutions, community leaders, civil society organizations, and young people to strengthen civic engagement, promote accountability, and amplify youth voices.
We believe that meaningful development happens when young people are not only heard but are actively involved in decision-making.
