Zolowo Residents Urge LTA Boss Massaquoi to Intervene as Orange GSM Network Remains Unstable
Residents of Zolowo Township, Zorzor District, Lofa County have raised serious concerns over poor network connectivity by Orange GSM.
Speaking with the Township Commissioner of Zolowo on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, through a telephone interview, Hon. Papa K. B. Johnson said that since he took over as commissioner, citizens have continued to complain about bad network connectivity at his office.
Johnson noted that Orange GSM constructed a tower in Zolowo Town at the Guzeh Public School campus in 2022 to provide active network connectivity across the township, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for community development. He said, however, that since the tower project was initiated, the company has not delivered any of the other projects outlined in the MOU.
The commissioner emphasized that residents repeatedly report that the network is unstable for both communication and internet services. He added that after receiving multiple complaints from citizens at his office, he wrote a communication to Orange GSM authorities for redress, but there has been no response regarding the poor network connectivity and the promised social benefits.
Johnson is therefore calling on the Government of Liberia, through the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) boss, Clearance Massaquoi, to urgently intervene and ensure Orange GSM moves forward with the MOU and improves network connectivity across the township.
Confirming the network challenges, residents of Zolowo Town, Gayflor Dolbah and Aaron Johnson—who are involved in Mobile Money and Orange Money business services—said they are experiencing serious difficulties due to Orange GSM’s network system, which they describe as embarrassing to their businesses.
They said customers frequently complain that they cannot use their minutes and data, leading some customers to stop buying Orange cards. They called on Orange GSM to work and improve the network system in a timely manner so they can continue providing service to their customers in the area.

Kanubah Urges Journalists to Uphold Professionalism as RAL Election Candidates Vow Reforms, Unity
By, Farsue Sillah/April 18,2026
Press Union of Liberia President Julius Kanubah has urged journalists across the country to refrain from unprofessional conduct that could tarnish the image of media workers.
Speaking as keynote speaker at this year’s Reporters Association of Liberia (RAL) election, Kanubah called on reporters to maintain professional standards while carrying out their duties at media outlets nationwide.
The election, attended by journalists from across Liberia, was held at the Press Union of Liberia headquarters in Sinkor.
Kanubah emphasized that media credibility and public trust hinge on ethical reporting, and cautioned members against actions that could undermine the profession.
Meanwhile,RAL presidential candidate Barclay Karley has pledged to prioritize advocacy, institutional reform, and unity if elected to lead the association.
At the RAL presidential debate, Karley said his administration would engage media owners nationwide to improve the welfare of reporters—an effort he claimed has been neglected in recent years.
“I will take the association to reporters across the country, something that has not been done over the years,” Karley stated.
He further added that, if elected, he would serve as a unifier for the association and push for policies aimed at strengthening the profession and protecting journalists’ interests.
The Reporters Association of Liberia is currently holding elections for new leadership at the Press Union of Liberia headquarters in Sinkor, drawing journalists from across the country.

Headline: Lofa Senator Momo T. Cyrus Donates Supplies, Cash to Joint Security at Sorluba Border Amid Tensions
Lofa County Senator Momo T. Cyrus has provided support to members of the joint security force deployed at the Sorluba Port of Entry in Lofa County.
Senator Cyrus donated 50 raincoats, 50 pairs of rain boots, 30 bags of rice and 300,000 Liberian dollars.
Making the presentation on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, Senator Cyrus commended the officers for their commitment to maintaining peace amid disputes in the border community.
Security presence at the border has been heightened due to ongoing concerns over cross‑border movements in some communities along the Liberia–Guinea border and the need to prevent any spillover of conflict into Liberian territory.
Senator Cyrus, who also chairs the Senate Committee on Security, assured Lofa citizens that the Government of Liberia is actively working to ensure the situation does not escalate into a full crisis.
Receiving the items on behalf of the security team, Dennis Sackie, Director for Operations at the Liberia Immigration Service, expressed gratitude to the senator for the gesture and pledged continued protection of citizens in border communities.
Citizens have welcomed the government’s diplomatic approach to finding a peaceful resolution in the region.
