A high-level Cabinet briefing is currently underway as Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung joins senior government officials to evaluate Liberia’s role and performance on the United Nations Security Council.
The meeting, facilitated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is focused on reviewing the country’s engagement since assuming its seat as a non-permanent member of the Security Council at the start of 2026.
Addressing participants, Vice President Koung highlighted the need for a comprehensive assessment of Liberia’s activities, accomplishments, and challenges during the first phase of its tenure. He stressed that such evaluations are essential to ensuring that Liberia effectively advances its foreign policy objectives and contributes meaningfully to international peace and security discussions.
Liberia began its two-year mandate on January 1, 2026, becoming one of the Security Council’s ten elected non-permanent members. The current review is expected to provide insights into the country’s diplomatic efforts and help shape its strategy for the remainder of its term.
