PUBLIC LIFE VS PRIVATE LIFE

As believers, both our public life and our private life are essential. God sees us in private, but people see us in public.

There must be a balance. To have a strong public life without an intimate private life with God is one of the greatest errors among many Christians today.

Our private life is where we withdraw from the crowd to build intimacy with God. It is in the secret place that our strength is formed. The Scripture declares:
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” (Psalm 91:1, KJV)

Even Jesus modeled this lifestyle:
“And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.” (Luke 5:16, KJV)

Before seeking public relevance, we must first be built in private. Trying to stand before men without first kneeling before God will always lead to instability. A strong public impact is rooted in a deep private encounter.

Our public life, however, is also important. It is where we display our Christian virtues before others. Jesus said:

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16, KJV)

You cannot sustain a public spirituality without private discipline. What is seen publicly must be backed by what is built privately.

Many say, “Don’t care about what people think,” but it is important that you do because you are the light of the world. Your life is a testimony, and your walk must reflect Christ before men.

“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” (Matthew 5:14, KJV)

Both your public and private lives matter. Do not be holy in public and careless in private. Do not appear righteous before men and live contrary before God.

“...for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7, KJV)

You may hide from man, but you cannot hide from God. Let your private altar sustain your public expression. Let your secret life strengthen your open life.

Balance both because God requires both.
