LAFASA Announces June 15 Election Date, Publishes Congress Guidelines
PAYNESVILLE CITY, Montserrado County – The Liberia Amputee Football and Sports Association will hold its elective congress on June 15, 2026, at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville, the Independent Elections Committee announces Monday.
Committee Chair Madam Marie Gayflor unveils the election guidelines on June 2, 2026, during a briefing at the LAFASA office. She says the committee prepares to conduct a credible, transparent poll in line with the association’s constitution.
The election calendar moves now. Candidate registration opens June 4 and ends June 8, 2026. Aspirants submit required documents and pay registration fees within that window.
Incumbents seeking re-election resign by June 11, 2026. The committee releases the list of qualified candidates on June 12, 2026, following vetting.
The campaign runs June 13–14, 2026. Voting takes place June 15, 2026, at the SKD Sports Complex in Paynesville.
Madam Gayflor says the process promotes unity and strengthens governance. “Amputee football gains international recognition,” she notes. “Liberia must respond with leadership that is accountable and united.”
Co-Chair Cooper George, former LAFASA President, urges stakeholders to maintain peace. “Credibility is everything for this process. We must protect it together,” he says.
The committee also seeks financial support. Election expenses project at US$500 to US$1,000 for ballots, transportation, and logistics. Appeals go to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, corporate partners, and the public.
LAFASA officials say the congress advances amputee football and sports across the country through stronger leadership.
