“As a former official of the government of Liberia and a mentor of the President’s Young Professionals Program and many young people, I believe the African Union's Agenda 2063 will be realized incrementally, not only by economic growth, technological advancement, and infrastructure development, but also importantly by the quality of governance, including leadership of its public institutions. Effective governance demands leaders who are competent, ethical, accountable, and committed to public service. Effective governance also demands leaders who are humble, selfless, and self-disciplined; leaders who are curious, and who take pride in their financial and intellectual independence.” Ambassador Marjon V. Kamara, Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Liberia

Inspired by Liberia’s President’s Young Professionals Program success, Emerging Public Leaders (EPL) was established in 2016 to expand the Public Service Fellowship Program model of the President’s Young Professionals Program across Africa.
The PYPP’s model has been replicated and tweaked to fit the country context in Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, and Sierra Leone.
From June 2-3,2026, alumni of the programs working across diverse public service sectors and influencing policy decisions in Liberia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, and Sierra Leone, converged in Liberia at the Royal Ambassador Hotel in Margibi County, Liberia. The Gathering also brought together current and former Government Officials!
We appreciate all those who made the Gathering possible! We celebrate the Emerging Public Leaders Organizing & Planning Committee!
