Good afternoon fellow Liberians!
What I have seen in less than two months in Liberia convinces me that the branches of government hold the power to address the challenges faced by their citizens. Yet, their actions reveal a stark reality; they seem to care only about themselves and their families.
The legislature and the judiciary have swiftly taken action against individuals accused of constitutional violations. However, they struggle to confront issues that truly devastate the lives of ordinary Liberians, r**e, corruption, murder cases that have languished in court for years with little attention. Meanwhile, our lawmakers can spend years debating a bill that would benefit their people, yet in less than 24 hours, they expelled one of their colleagues actions driven not by concern for the country, but by self-interest.
Were these decisions made because the Liberian people were truly affected?
Hell no!
When the Chief Justice’s mother was assaulted, the judiciary mobilized all its energy to finalize the case and punish the accuser in a short time simply because it involved them. But if the issue had been about the nation and its citizens, those so-called justices would have dragged their feet for two or three years, leaving the matter unresolved.
The legislature’s expulsion of Yekeh Kolubah was not fueled by patriotism; it was about silencing Yekeh Kolubah, who consistently exposes their criminal conduct. They’ve long been searching for ways to eliminate him so they can continue their looting undisturbed.
Our constitution grants political actors the power to effect change, yet they misuse that power to enrich themselves, showing utter disregard for the majority they claim to serve.
While I do not support lawlessness or the actions of Yekeh Kolubah and Prophet Key, I wish the three branches of government would channel the same energy into making laws, interpreting them, and executing them rather than wielding their authority for personal gain.
I tired mehmmm 😭😭😭
I'm tired of pretending 😞
What's the difference between advice and advise?
