The Liberia Urban Resilience Project (LURP), led by the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Public Works with support from the World Bank, aims to reduce flooding and strengthen climate resilience across Greater Monrovia. The project will rehabilitate and expand key drainage systems, introduce nature-based flood-control solutions, and upgrade community facilities in highly affected areas, including New Kru Town, the estuarine zone near Duala, and communities around Caldwell Road and the B**g Mines Railway. As part of the preparation phase, Research and Innovations Hub has been hired by EARTHTIME to implement the social survey component, supporting environmental and social assessments that guide project design. Overall, LURP seeks to improve water flow, reduce flood risk, enhance public health, and build long-term resilience for vulnerable households across Greater Monrovia.

RIH, working alongside the government has employed fifty(50) enumerators to register and enroll 2400 households who will benefit from six rounds of social cash transfers. To complement the beneficiaries planning on how to utilize their cash, RIH will provide training on joint financial planning. Our team will also implement three rounds of Post-Distribution Monitoring during the periods of the cash transfers.
The team dedication during this period of heavy rainfall in Liberia is a true testament of sacrifice for a just cost.
