At This Moment Of Time - Delmore Schwartz

Some who are uncertain compel me. They fear
The Ace of Spades. They fear
Loves offered suddenly, turning from the mantelpiece,
Sweet with decision. And they distrust
The fireworks by the lakeside, first the spuft,
Then the colored lights, rising.
Tentative, hesitant, doubtful, they consume
Greedily Caesar at the prow returning,
Locked in the stone of his act and office.
While the brass band brightly bursts over the water
They stand in the crowd lining the shore
Aware of the water beneath Him. They know it. Their eyes
Are haunted by water

Disturb me, compel me. It is not true
That "no man is happy," but that is not
The sense which guides you. If we are
Unfinished (we are, unless hope is a bad dream),
You are exact. You tug my sleeve
Before I speak, with a shadow's friendship,
And I remember that we who move
Are moved by clouds that darken midnight.

In life, we exist only in part,
In a world where dreams unfold,
We govern with authority from our heart

In life, we are somewhat humbled,
By forces that challenge our faith,
And individuals who crush our aspirations and schemes

What becomes of us when we relinquish control,
Who are we without our aspirations and hopes,
Drifting aimlessly like the wind?
In life, we are partly human,
With beating hearts,
And minds that scrutinize all that exists,
All that has been, and all that will come to be,
We are fractured.

If you can’t work on yourself you will continue to see the same problems in different bodies.
That’s how life gets when you live with the problem and the problem is you.

Pictures hold memories
And memories hold people
Far or near
Apart but connected

Tears hold emotions
And emotions embrace peace
The eyes are lifted
While the heart makes peace with its broken peices
And the memories we share last forever.

In the dark depths of my mind,
Loneliness and depression intertwined,
A heavy weight upon my heart,
Tearing me apart.

But in the midst of my despair,
I found a glimmer of hope, a prayer,
A small light in the darkness,
Guiding me towards a new harness.

I learned to embrace the pain,
To face it head-on, not in vain,
To find the lessons in the struggle,
And emerge stronger, no longer in a muddle.

I found strength in vulnerability,
And learned the power of humility,
To find solace in the simple things,
And the beauty that life brings.

Though the road ahead may still be tough,
I know I have the strength, that's enough,
To face whatever may come my way,
And find hope in every new day.

So though the darkness may still linger,
I hold onto hope with a steady finger,
And know that in the end, I'll see,
The beauty and light in all that's meant to be.

embraced by the sea we stand,
Eyes glistening with dreams of what could be,
Staring towards a future unplanned,
Our hands embodied as a symbol of unity.

"Is this love?"
I whisper in the salty air,
Your smile, a fire igniting my soul.
Is this the love beyond compare,
That mends my broken pieces and makes me whole?

My heart screams out your name,
You've rescued it from depths unknown,
Once discarded, now it's refined,
With a love that's pure and bright.

Is this love, I ask again,
Ready to release an aching distress,
Just say yes, and I'll break down walls,
Opening my heart to you, ready to confess.

Say yes, and I'll pour out all I am,
In a symphony of love that knows no end,
Say yes, let our souls entwined, for our love is far, far greater than a poet’s love
Say yes, and to eternity we'll ascend.

In the quiet of the night, I start to write
Recalling moments that haunt me, like whispers in the night

My heart still feels the thorns, a burden that's all mine
Trying to erase the scars etched deep in my soul

I drink the last drop of joy, impatient for the end
Longing for a new dawn, where past hurts will amend
To forget the pain, the betrayal, the lies
That once bloomed like roses, before my eyes

No, it's not love, just a fleeting illusion
That leaves me drowning in a sea of confusion
I wish to break free, to leave it all behind

Even in my wildest state
I can't escape the pain, a relentless weight
A longing for peace, from this endless ache
A wish to forget, for my heart's own sake

This feeling that I feel inside

It stabs my heart a thousand times
Gnaw on my throat like termites in the dirt
It rip out my lungs and tremble on them like dried autumn leaves

Oh, this feeling I feel inside is eating me alive
It hangs on my chest like monkeys in the wild
And refuses to let go for things might be mild

This feeling I feel inside
Forces me to hide
And mumbled words I could never say aloud

This feeling I feel inside might just be my greatest enemy
But The enemy of an enemy is a friend
So…I can never be my own friend

This feeling I feel inside
I hate with every fiber in my bones
I wish to disappear with the wind

Perhaps to a place of no return
Or maybe just until I’m made whole again
Oh, this feeling I feel inside makes me hate myself even more

I lost myself.

I placed my hand on my chest
just to feel my heart beat again,
while my mind runs in circles.

I can't express how I feel,
how my heart strangles itself to death
each time I think of a future without you.

No, I'm not seeking your pity,
I don't need it.
But the truth is, I'm hurt,
and each sigh is a cry for help
that no one hears…

I'm dying inside.
