STEPS IN OBTAINING LIBERIAN ORDINARY PASSPORT

Step 1. Prepare Required Documents

You’ll need the following documents before starting your application:

* Birth Certificate (original and photocopy)
* National ID Card (NIR card) or Voter ID
* Citizenship Certificate (if applicable)
* Marriage Certificate (for name change)
* Old Passport (for renewal)
* Passport-size photos (usually taken at the passport center)

Step 2. Fill Out the Passport Application Form

You can:

Visit the Passport Application Center (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Capitol Hill, Monrovia) to get the form, or

Apply online via the Liberia Passport Application Portal: https://www.liberiapassports.com

Fill in your:
* Personal information
* Contact details
* Next of kin information

Step 3. Pay the Application Fee

Fees depend on the type and processing speed:

Passport Type Duration Fee (Approx.)
* Ordinary (32 pages) 5 years US$40
* Ordinary (48 pages) 5 years US$?
* Express Processing 1–2 days Extra US$80

Payment can be made:
* Online (with Mastercard or Visa) or at centre
* At UBA Bank Liberia or other designated banks

Keep your payment receipt — you’ll need it during submission.

Step 4. Biometric Enrollment

Go to the Passport Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or an approved center with:

* All required documents
* Payment receipt

At the center:
Your photo, fingerprints, and signature will be captured.

Your details will be verified by immigration officers.

Step 5. Processing and Collection

* Normal processing: 3–5 working days
* Express processing: 1–2 working days

Once ready, you’ll be contacted to collect your passport.
You must bring (for identification):

* Your receipt
* Old passport (for renewal)
* Valid ID

Step 6. Collection (Final step)

Collect your new passport at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Passport Bureau, Capitol Hill, Monrovia, subdivision center or at the Liberian Embassy/Consulate abroad (if applying overseas).
