The goal of the workshop is to empower local entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills to promote sustainable waste management practices through effective composting.
This initiative not only educated participants but also fostered a sense of community responsibility towards waste management and environmental conservation to mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and promote sustainable environmental practices.

Introducing the Solid Waste Management Transformative Pilot Project. We are excited to announce the launch of the Solid Waste Management Transformative Pilot, a project supported by Environment and Climate Change Canada. This initiative addresses critical environmental and public health issues by converting organic wastes into valuable composts through community collaboration. The project is designed to identify local organic waste sources, link them effectively with Four (4) community-based composting enterprises, and support the establishment of community-driven composting operations. Additionally, the project aims to identify and build the capacity of national and municipal waste management champions aligned with Liberia’s NDC objectives. A key component is the creation of a Waste Management Coordination Committee (WMCC) to enhance stakeholder engagement, communication, and coordination. The project will also develop a robust business model to ensure the long-term sustainability and efficiency of composting operations.
