Delivering remarks at the ceremony, Mr. Advertus Nyan Mianah, National Coordinator of the Liberia One Health Coordination Platform, called for strengthened cross-sectoral coordination to preserve and protect Liberiaโs biodiversity.
He emphasized that medicinal and aromatic plants are not only ecological assets but also vital to public health, traditional knowledge systems, and rural economies. He urged stakeholders to deepen collaboration between human, animal and environmental health sectors in line with the One Health approach โ recognizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health.

Today, the Office of the Vice President hosted the official presentation of the Revised One Health Governance Manual at Capitol Hill, bringing together key partners including Africa CDC, WHO, NDMA, and NPHIL.
Chief of Office Staff Prince Menkalo Gbeiu, speaking on behalf of Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, reaffirmed the VPโs commitment to the One Health approach. He conveyed the VPโs deep appreciation to all stakeholders and partners for their contributions to strengthening Liberiaโs health system.
Africa CDCโs Senior Country Representative, Mr. Bakary Sonko, praised Liberia for embracing One Health, stating: โWhat affects one member state affects the other. Letโs continue to see the Africa CDC as our own.โ
WHOโs Alpha Tamba called for full use of the Manual and urged Liberia to turn challenges into opportunities to strengthen One Health.
Dr. Julius S.M. Gilayeneh, Sr. received the document on behalf of the One Health Technical Committee and called for intentional government support to scale up One Health nationwide.

FDA Managing Director Hon. Rudolph J. Merab, Sr. stressed unity, citing the National Anthemโs โIn union strong success is sure,โ while Deputy MD Hon. Victor W. Today, Liberia kicked off a three-day One Health workshop in Monrovia, bringing together government institutions, international partners, and technical experts to advance the countryโs journey toward ISO 9001 accreditation, a globally recognized standard for quality management systems.
Funded by Africa CDC Africa and organized by National Public Health Institute of Liberia-NPHILโs National Public Health Reference Laboratory, the training will enhance Liberiaโs diagnostic capacity, improve efficiency, and build stronger health security across human, animal, and environmental sectors.
By adopting the One Health approach, Liberia is ensuring that all sectors work together to prevent, detect, and respond to health threats โ from zoonotic diseases to environmental hazards.
Once accredited, Liberia will join a select group of African nations with internationally certified public health systems. ๐ช๐

As part of its ongoing stakeholder engagement series, the Liberia One Health Coordination Platform (LOHCP), led by Mr. Adevertus Nyan Mianah, National One Health Coordinator and Head of the One Health Secretariat, today paid a courtesy visit to the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA).
Meeting with Attorney Ansu V.S. Dulleh, Sr., Executive Director of NDMA, the discussion focused on how multisectoral collaboration amongst institutions can strengthen disaster preparedness, emergency response, and public health security across Liberia.
Mr. Mianah highlighted the revised LOHCP Governance Manual (Second Edition), which expands the Technical Working Groups (TWGs) from six to nine, and recommended NDMAโs active role, especially in Emergency Preparedness and Response and Risk Communication and Community Engagement.
Attorney Dulleh reaffirmed NDMAโs commitment to the One Health approach, noting that disaster management and public health are inseparable in building a resilient nation.
๐ This visit marks another milestone in LOHCPโs series of engagements to strengthen multi-sectoral coordination in protecting the health of people, animals, and the environment.
