President Williams R. Tolbert was the best president Liberia has ever had. All of Tolbert's policies ( Foreign Relations vs Domestic Fiscal Policies) were superb. He was killed for his policies, yet his policies reign and live on today. One of his policies (an increase in the price of rice) led to the rice riots that eventually culminated in the civil war, and it remains the best yet! He was killed for it, yet Liberia has not defeated those policies, nor have we yielded any of its goals in his absence.

The Progressives who led the attacks against his policies abused the natives (ignoramuses of our Land), informing them that Tolbert and his cronies were trying to enrich themselves, making the few elites richer, while the majority of the citizens poorer. Yet, the reality remains that, in the capitalist world, there is no country on planet Earth whose economy is not controlled by the 1% elites of the country.

Fast forward to 2026, one of the living progressives, Samuel Jackson, is seen on Facebook listing the foreigners: Lebanese, Indians and Fulani who control our economy. And claiming that we Liberians are stupid!!. What a shame?!

Wasn’t the progressive who plunged our country into a civil war because of petty jealousy of the 1% of our country, like any other capitalist country, who were taking over our country?

So which scenario is better? 1% Liberians taking over our economy or the 1% foreigners taking over our economy?

Will Samuel Jackson muster the courage to apologise to the Liberian people that the political rhetoric of the Progressive was simply petty jealousy with no reality of capitalism? Will he disabuse the minds of the later generation of using similar petty jealousy to give our economy to foreigners?

It is time that Liberians have sober reflections and disabuse our minds of those historical wrongs of the past.
