π This island looks like another planet β but it's on Earth π±
Welcome to Socotra, a remote island off the coast of Yemen. Cut off from the mainland for millions of years, it evolved plants found nowhere else on the planet β like the umbrella-shaped Dragon Blood Trees and the strange swollen Bottle Trees. Around a third of its plant life exists only here. It's so unique that scientists call it "the GalΓ‘pagos of the Indian Ocean," and UNESCO protects it as a World Heritage Site.

The Blood River of Antarctica π©Έ
Deep in the ice, a river runs blood red. π±
For years people thought it was actual blood. The real reason is even cooler β water trapped under the glacier for almost 2 million years is packed with iron. The moment it hits the air, it rusts and turns deep red. π§β‘οΈπ©Έ
No sunlight, no oxygenβ¦ yet tiny life still survives down there, giving scientists clues about life on Mars. πͺ

Dragon Blood Tree β the tree that bleeds red π± π³
This alien-looking tree oozes a deep red sap when its bark is cut, which is exactly why it's called "dragon's blood." For centuries the resin has been used as dye, medicine, and paint. Even its umbrella shape has a purpose β it channels rare moisture down to the roots to survive its harsh, dry home.

𦩠What colour are flamingos really born β grey or pink? π
The answer is GREY! Flamingos are born grey and white, and only turn pink later from their diet β algae and shrimp full of natural pigments slowly colour their feathers. The more they eat, the pinker they get.
