The organization’s primary effort was to take welfare measures to alleviate the suffering caused by inadequate facilities in the temples which are located in very remote areas in Sri Lanka. While there are temples with ample facilities in Colombo and its suburbs, it is regretful to see most of the temples in rural areas suffer due to lack of very basic needs. Sometimes we see that these Buddhist monks are not in a position to fulfill their daily needs. In such situations the organization contributed in constructions and repairs, provided necessary commodities, provided literary resources and financial support for student bhikkus in Anuradhapura, Kandy and Batticaloa districts. The organization employed its resources and made efforts to enhance and upgrade the living standards of these temples. At the same time there are many other tangible services rendered by the organization. Prajapathi Buddhist Centre has been organizing a campaign of alms giving for the devotees who observe sil at sacred Kelaniya temple every Poya day since 2003. There we distribute hundred packets of lunch to mark the fullmoon which is a holy day for Buddhists. The organization organizes ‘Songs of Devotion’ event on every Vesak Poya Day in order to commemorate the birth, enlightenment and parinnibbana of Gauthama Buddha. It opens the doors for children from every Dhamma school to participate in singing the songs of devotion. These events promote religious and cultural values among the present generation who are waiting with open arms to welcome the future of the world. Every Poson Poya Day the organization organizes a ‘Mihindu Perahera’ to commemorate the arrival of Arhat Mahinda Thero in Sri Lanka to propagate Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Through this procession the organization supports to promote the Buddhist values and to preserve Buddhist heritage. Prajapathi Buddhist Centre celebrated its 5th anniversary with a ‘Pirith Chanting’, with hundred of bhikkus in order to bless the country and its citizens. The ‘Pirith Chanting’ programme was followed by an alms giving to these Buddhist monks with ‘Ata Pirikara’. These activities elevate the Dhammic way of life of ordinary people. We launch our official website to mark the 10th anniversary on 30th of August 2013 to a request by our membership to tell the world about the silent but sublime service we have already provided to the nation throughout a decade by enhancing Buddhist values and upgrading living standards of indigent Buddhist bodies in Sri Lanka.
