DID YOU KNOW that the Library recently added LOADS of great books? As well as books to read for fun (like "How to train your dragon"), there are some amazing books that can make schoolwork much more fun - and you can also read them just because they're so cool! Come in and ask for them!

Celebration commemorating Elders Day and Childrens Day which falls on 1st October.
Hmmm ... I see we have "Spoilt Royals" (C 300 Mac). It's lots of funny stuff about various royal families and personages. I suspect the grown-ups will get a giggle out of it too ...
A couple of new Christian books have been added: "Who said Women can't Teach?" by Charles Trombley (253 Tro), and "Keys to Knowing God Better" by Graham Fitzpatrick (248 Fit)
Guess what, grownups! Looks like the Library has some new fiction books! "Missing Joseph" by Elizabeth George (FD Geo), "Rebecca's Tale" by Sally Beauman (FG Bea) (it's a follow-on from the Daphne du Maurier story), "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" by Mary Ann Shaffer (FG Sha) (I'm going to borrow that!), "The Insider" by Stephen Frey (FD Fre) (a financial thriller), "Nightfall" by Isaac Asimov and Robert Silverberg (FG Asi) (science fiction), "Ivanhoe" by Walter Scott (FG Sco), "The Raphael Affair" by Iain Pears (FD Pea) (an art world whodunnit), "An Indecent Obsession" by Colleen McCullough (who wrote "The Thorn Birds") (FG McC), "All he ever Wanted" by Anita Shreve" (FG Shr), "Becky" by E.V. Thompson (FG Tho), "Of Love and Life" (3 novels condensed by Reader's Digest) (FG Rea), and "An Anthology of Seventeenth Century Fiction" (FG Sal).
Books I personally enjoyed: any book by Paul Gallico, especially "Love of Seven Dolls" (FG Gal) (reduces me to tears every time!) and "The Snow Goose" (FG Gal), "Black Like Me" (a fascinating true story about a white man who turned himself 'black' to see how differently people would respond to him; @ Biog Gri), "And the Shofar Blew" (a novel by one of my favourite Christian authors, Francine Rivers, @ FG Riv), "The Clowns of God" and "The Devil's Advocate" (Morris West books @ FG Wes), "The Story of the Trapp Family Singers" (Biog Tra), "The Thirteenth Tale" (FG Set), "An Ordinary Man: the true story behind 'Hotel Rwanda' " (Biog Rus - harrowing but compelling reading), "Hill Towns" (FG Sid), and "The Ballad of the Belstone Fox" (FG Roo), and, for light relief, "The Nanny Diaries" (FG McL). I could go on - and on - and on ...
For the grownups: "It'll be all wrong on the night" (choir tales (apparently true!) of triumph and disaster @ FG Fra), "Greyfriars Bobby" (based on a true story about a faithful dog, @ FG Atk), "Love and War in the Apennines" (true story about an escaped prisoner of war in Italy - very readable and funny - try it! @ 940 New), "Spartan" (a novel set in ancient Greece, @ FG Man) and "Blood Ties" (a historical novel concerning Anne Boleyn, @ FG Hum) - and LOADS MORE GOOD BOOKS, of course!
For the young 'uns: there are Beano and Dandy annuals, "Paddington Marches On" (FC Bon, if you want to look for it) (I loved Paddington Bear books when I was young), the Noddy series (FC Bly), "Molly Moon's Hypnotic Holiday" (FC Byn), "Catfoot and the Missing Bits of London" (FC Dav) (sounds fun!), "The Borrowers Afloat" (FC Nor) (another of the books from my childhood), "Herbie goes Bananas" (FC Her) (grownups may remember the films!), "Lion at school and other stories" (FC Pea), "Jacob Two-Two and the Dinosaur" (FC Ric), "Doctor Dolittle" (FC Lof), "Just William at School" (FY Cro) - and LOADS MORE GOOD BOOKS!!! Come and look!
The other day I found a great book in the Library: "How to become a Comedian" !!! It has pictures and everything! (And it pre-dates most of the comedians we already know and love) (Now, don't ALL rush to borrow it ...). Who knows what other treasures are lurking in the Library ...
NEW BOOKS @ KCL! (Sorry, kids, these are for the oldies!): Stormie Omartian - "Stormie" (a story of healing and forgiveness @ Biog Oma); Maeve Binchy - "This Year it will be Different" (stories @ FG Bin); Sam Bourne - "The Last Testament" (thriller @ FD Bou); Sue Grafton - "F is for Fugitive" (a Kynsey Millhone mystery @ FD Gra); Medieval Murderers - "The Tainted Relic" (five interlocking mysteries @ FD Med); John Mortimer - "The Second Rumpole Omnibus" (Rumpole of the Old Bailey legal stories @ FD Mor); Elvi Rhodes - "Midsummer Meeting" (novel set in a village @ FG Rho). Good reading!
