Gelioya Relief Work
A Morning of Healing & Hope 🎨

On 1st February 2025 at Kalugamuwa Central College, Gelioya, we held a gentle psychosocial support session for young girls (ages 5–10).

Through drawing their own β€œgardens,” movement-based activation, and guided relaxation, the children were given a safe space to express, release, and simply be.

What looked like simple art and play carried deeper meaning β€” quiet emotions finding color, small bodies learning to relax, and brave little hearts feeling seen. πŸ’›

Sometimes healing begins with crayons, movement, and a space that feels safe. 🌸

Saturday Chill ✨

It’s okay to slow down β€” the weekend is for you.

Notice the little joys, take a deep breath, laugh at something silly, or simply be present in the moment.
No pressure, no agenda β€” just a gentle reminder that you don’t always have to go fast to enjoy life 😌

Another day at Gelioya ✨

On January 20th, 2026, we spent the afternoon with these incredible kids at Kalugamuwa Central College, Kandy.

Through Charades, Cat & Rat, and teen sharing circles, we witnessed their smiles, heard their stories, and felt the true power of connection, play, and expression. πŸ’¬πŸ’–

β€œBut that was then and this is now, all we need is enough love to hold us πŸŽ΅β€ – their laughter, openness, and energy reminded us that love, care, and presence can change lives…

Box Breathing (4-Square Breathing)

Feeling overwhelmed, tense, or mentally scattered?
Box breathing is a simple, evidence-based breathing technique that helps calm the nervous system and bring the body back into balance.

- Inhale for 4 seconds
- Hold for 4 seconds
- Exhale for 4 seconds
- Hold for 4 seconds

Repeat for 3–5 rounds.

This practice is widely used to reduce stress, improve focus, and support emotional regulation by slowing down the breath and signaling safety to the nervous system.

Save this and come back whenever you need a moment of calm 🌿

🧠 Cognitive Care | Post 1

Welcome to Cognitive Care, a series dedicated to supporting your mind gently and practically.

What is cognition?

According to the APA, cognition includes:

β€œAll forms of knowing and awareness, such as perceiving, conceiving, remembering, reasoning, judging, imagining, and problem solving. Along with affect and conation, it is one of the three traditionally identified components of mind. An individual percept, idea, memory, or the like.”

In simple terms, cognition is how your brain thinks, learns, remembers, imagines, and solves problems every day.

How do we take care of cognition?

We support our thinking and awareness when we:
β€’ reduce overload
β€’ rest and pause
β€’ focus on one thing at a time
β€’ acknowledge emotions
β€’ practice gently and consistently

Cognitive care is about support, not force.
