đ⨠Hot Butter Mushrooms Recipe â¨đĽ
Looking for a quick, tasty treat? These Hot Butter Mushrooms are the perfect fix! Simple, full of flavor, and sure to satisfy those cravings. Letâs get cooking! đ˝ď¸
Youâll Need:
200g fresh mushrooms (sliced)
3 tbsp butter
2 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp chili flakes (adjust to your spice level)
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
A squeeze of lemon juice
How to Make It:
Prep the Mushrooms: Clean and slice the mushrooms (easy peasy!).
SautĂŠ the Garlic: In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until it smells amazingâabout 1-2 minutes.
Cook the Mushrooms: Add the mushrooms to the pan. Let them cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring now and then, until theyâre golden and delicious.
Season It: Pour in the soy sauce, sprinkle black pepper, chili flakes, and a pinch of salt. Stir it all up so the mushrooms are coated in that awesome flavor.
Add a Fresh Twist: Squeeze a little lemon juice over the mushrooms for that bright, tangy finish.
Garnish and Serve: Top with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot!
⨠Pro Tip: These Hot Butter Mushrooms are amazing on their own, or you can pair them with some crispy bread or your favorite main dish. đ

You know that moment when you open the fridge, see some leftover rice, and think⌠*âHmm, what if I turn this into something amazing?â*
Thatâs how Sri Lankan Mixed Fried Rice was born in my kitchenâand probably in yours too! đ
Itâs not fancy, but itâs full of soul. Day-old rice tossed in hot coconut oil with curry leaves sizzling, chopped veggies (whateverâs hiding in the crisper!), maybe an egg or some leftover chicken, a pinch of turmeric for that golden glow, and just enough chili to make your nose tingle. Finish it off with a squeeze of lime and a sprinkle of fresh coriander⌠and suddenly, itâs comfort on a plate.
Some days itâs veggie. Some days itâs got tuna or prawns. Sometimes itâs extra spicy because⌠well, why not? Thereâs no single ârightâ wayâjust your way. And thatâs what makes it so special.
Honestly? It tastes like home. Like late-night hunger solved. Like âI didnât plan dinner but somehow nailed it.â
If youâve ever made (or devoured) a plate of Sri Lankan Mixed Fried Riceâyou get it. đ

You know that feeling when youâre *not quite hungry enough for rice and curry*âŚ
âŚbut also *way too hungry for just tea and biscuits*?
Enter: **Sri Lankan noodles**. đ
Not fancy. Not Instagram-perfect (unless you count that glossy soy sheen đ).
Just hot, garlicky, slightly smoky noodles straight from the wok â
with crunchy cabbage, soft scrambled egg, maybe a few prawns if youâre feeling fancy,
and that *just-right* kick of green chili and vinegar that makes you go âahhh⌠yes.â
Itâs the food of late-night cravings,
post-exam celebrations,
and âI-donât-feel-like-cooking-but-still-want-comfortâ nights.
Whether itâs from the **noodle uncle** at the corner with his blackened wok and secret chili oilâŚ
or your **Amma** throwing together leftovers with a handful of curry leaves and love â
it always tastes like *home*, even when itâs eaten on a plastic stool under a streetlight. đ
So tell me â
Are you team **extra chili + vinegar**?
Team **egg on top, runny yolk included**?
Or⌠do you secretly love it with a side of ketchup? (We wonât tell! đ¤Ť)

You know that moment when the beefâs been simmering for hours⌠the kitchen smells like cinnamon, curry leaves, and childhood memories⌠and then you toss in a big handful of fresh **kankun**? đż
Thatâs when the magic happens.
The kankun softens right into the gravyâmellow, earthy, just the right touch to balance all that rich, spicy beef. Itâs not fancy. Itâs not trendy. But itâs **real**. Itâs the kind of meal your Amma or Aunty would make when she knew youâd had a long week.
No frills. Just love, a few good spices, and greens from the garden (or the local pola!).
Honestly? A bowl of hot rice, this beef-and-kankun curry, a squeeze of lime⌠and suddenly everything feels okay again. đ
Do you cook your beef curry with kankun too?
Or are you team *gotukola*, *mukunuwenna*, or something else entirely?
Drop your familyâs twist below â Iâm always looking for new ways to make this island classic! đ

đ⨠Thereâs just something about a proper Sri Lankan rice and curry, isnât there? â¨đ
Itâs never *just* a mealâitâs Sunday afternoons at Ammaâs kitchen, the sound of grinding spices in the mortar, the smell of curry leaves sizzling in coconut oil, and that little extra spoonful of pol sambol she always sneaks onto your plate. đ
Whether itâs creamy jackfruit curry, spicy fish ambul thiyal, comforting dhal, or that rich chicken curry simmered for hours⌠it all comes together on one plate with fluffy rice, a crispy papadam on the side, and maybe a squeeze of lime if youâre feeling fancy. đśď¸đĽĽ
Honestly, no matter where I am in the world, one bite of rice and curry takes me right back homeâto laughter around the table, mismatched plates, and full hearts.
So⌠whatâs your go-to curry? Chicken? Fish? Dhal? Or are you team jackfruit like me? đ

Some days, the kitchen feels less like a place to cook⌠and more like a time machine.
Today, I made my grandmaâs lentil curryâthe one sheâd simmer for hours in her old clay pot while humming old Sinhala songs. I donât have her pot (though Iâm on the hunt!), and my version probably isnât *exactly* like hers⌠but I used the same spices, the same slow stir, and all the love I could muster.
And you know what? It smelled like childhood. Like rainy afternoons. Like home.
Funny how food does thatâturns memories into something you can taste.
If youâd like, Iâd be happy to share how I made it (with a few modern shortcuts, because letâs be realâmy patience isnât quite as deep as hers!). Just say the word đ
Until then, I hope your day includes something that tastes like comfort.

You know how sometimes a single bite can take you right back to a place youâve visitedâor even introduce you to one youâve never been? Thatâs exactly what happened in my kitchen today! đâ¨
Iâve been missing the flavors of my travels, so I decided to whip up a dish that blends a traditional recipe with some of the spices I fell in love with along the wayâespecially those bold, comforting notes from Sri Lanka. The result? A steaming plate that tastes like adventure, nostalgia, and home all at once. đśď¸đ
If youâre curious, Iâd be happy to share the full recipe with youâjust say the word!
