Without a doubt, the most spectacular event in Kandy's calendar is the Esala Perahera, also known as the Festival of the Tooth. Held annually in July or August, this grand procession pays homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha, housed at the Sri Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth).
