As part of our ongoing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) project, with the funding support of RFSU, JSAC organized two impactful awareness sessions aimed at promoting healthy family wellbeing and gender equality within the community.

The first session, tailored for newly married couples, was held at the Nallur MOH Office and led by our Master Trainer SPHM, focusing deeply on pregnancy, maternal wellbeing, shared domestic responsibilities, and supportive family dynamics.

Concurrently, a second session was conducted for Mothers’ Club members in Uthayapuram by our Master Trainer PHM. This session highlighted the critical importance of mutual consent, open communication, and creating respectful, positive home environments essential for children's overall wellbeing.

JSAC Stands Firm Against All Forms of Violence Against Children! 🚫👧👦

JSAC joined hands with community members and civil society activists today, May 29, 2026, in a peaceful protest held in front of the Jaffna Bus Stand.

Our team actively participated to raise our voices against child abuse and firmly demand justice. Through this demonstration, JSAC strongly emphasizes that perpetrators of child abuse must be severely punished, and unbiased justice must be delivered swiftly without any discrimination.

Ensuring a safe, protective nation for our children remains a collective responsibility for us all.

CurveUp recently conducted a valuable one-day training session for our staff at JSAC Jaffna head office. This hands-on program focused on equipping our team with essential Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy skills, where our staff didn't just learn the theory but applied AI tools practically to real-world tasks. By mastering tools for faster proposal and report writing, advanced research and project planning, smarter outreach content creation, and daily productivity enhancement, this training has immensely helped our team work more efficiently.

It was a truly worthwhile experience that empowers our staff to use modern, smarter technology to drive greater social impact across the communities we serve.

JSAC conducted an impactful two-day Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop on May 26th & 27th, 2026 for the Karaikathiroli CLA and Kaarai Vidivelli CLA in the Karainagar Division.

The workshop focused deeply on the importance of children’s education, the consequences of irregular school attendance, and how parents can actively address these issues. CLA sub-committee members trained during the session will now cascade these vital lessons down to Self-Help Group (SHG) members during their weekly meetings.

The sessions were expertly facilitated by Mr. B. Sribavan (Professional Career Counsellor, Motivational Speaker, and Master Trainer in Soft Skills), and JSAC extends its sincere gratitude for his valuable support.

This successful initiative was implemented under the "Save Our Children" project, with funding support from Kindernothilfe (KNH).

Empower Kayts Communities to Safeguard Child Rights!

JSAC successfully conducted a two-day Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop on May 26th & 27th, 2026, under the "Save Our Children" project. Implemented by JSAC with the funding support of Kindernothilfe (KNH), the program brought together dedicated sub-committee members from the Puthumaippenkal CLA and Kaavaloorkarangal CLA within the Kayts Division.

The intensive workshop focused deeply on Children’s Rights, existing child protection mechanisms, and the crucial responsibilities of parents in fostering a conducive environment for their children's education and extracurricular activities. This sustainable model empowers CLA sub-committee members to cascade this essential knowledge down to Self-Help Group (SHG) members during their weekly meetings.

Jaffna Social Action Center (JSAC), under the UNICEF-funded project "Emergency Support for Children Affected by Cyclone Ditwah," recently hosted a two-day capacity-building training program at J Hotels, Jaffna. The intensive sessions brought together 35 participants, including Government frontline officials—such as Child Rights Promotion Officers (CRPOs), Women Development Officers (WDOs), NCPA officers, Counsellors, and Grama Niladhari Officers—from across the Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Mannar, and Vavuniya districts along with JSAC staff.

Conducted by expert resource persons from MHPSS.net, the training empowered frontline officials and JSAC staff with practical skills to integrate Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) into child-focused work.

A major focus of the training was the immediate operation of Child-Friendly Spaces (CFSs) right after a disaster occurs. Participants learned how to quickly set up and run these safe spaces to provide urgent psychosocial first aid, protect children from immediate post-disaster hazards, and stabilize their emotional well-being. The program also focused on establishing inclusive, age-appropriate environments for vulnerable children, including those with disabilities, while strengthening safe, ethical facilitation and caregiver engagement.

UNICEF நிறுவனத்தின் நிதியுதவியுடன், "டிட்வா சூறாவளியினால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட சிறுவர்களுக்கான அவசர கால உதவி" எனும் திட்டத்தின் கீழ், JSAC, இரண்டு நாள் விசேட பயிற்சி நெறியை அண்மையில் யாழ்ப்பாணம் J Hotels மண்டபத்தில் வெற்றிகரமாக நடத்தியுள்ளது. இத்திறன் மேம்பாட்டுப் பயிற்சியில் 35 பங்கேற்பாளர்கள் கலந்துகொண்டனர்.

பேரிடர் ஏற்பட்ட உடனேயே சிறுவர் நட்பு சூழல்களை (CFSs) எவ்வாறு உடனடியாக இயக்குவது என்பது குறித்து இங்கு விசேட பயிற்சி அளிக்கப்பட்டது. அவசர காலங்களில் சிறுவர்களுக்கான உளவியல் முதலுதவியை வழங்குவதற்கும், ஆபத்துகளில் இருந்து அவர்களைப் பாதுகாப்பதற்கும், மாற்றுத்திறனாளிச் சிறுவர்கள் உட்பட தீவிர பாதிப்புகளுக்குள்ளான பிள்ளைகளுக்கான நெறிமுறைசார் நடைமுறைகளை அவசரமாகக் கையாள்வதற்கும் இந்த வழிகாட்டல் பெரிதும் உதவியாக அமைந்தது.

JSAC, under the KNH-SHA project, conducted a vital 2-day Training of Trainers (TOT) program on May 20–21, 2026, at Sivagowri Hall, Karainagar. The training empowered CLA Subcommittee members with deep knowledge on child rights, protection mechanisms, and parental responsibilities in fostering education and extracurricular activities. These members will now cascade this vital knowledge to Self-Help Groups (SHGs), who will then share it structurally with their children.

The sessions were expertly facilitated by the Karainagar Divisional Secretariat officers, including the Child Rights Promotion, Drug Prevention, Psychosocial Support, and Child Protection & Probation officers. JSAC extends its sincere gratitude to the Secretariat for their invaluable support in building a safer environment for our children.

JSAC Promotes Gender Equality and Maternal Wellbeing in Colombuthurai!

As part of the RFSU-funded SRHR project, we organized an essential awareness session on Pregnancy and Gender Equality at the Colombuthurai Clinic Center. Facilitated by our Master Trainer Mrs. Judina (PHM) and JSAC staff Ms Suveny, the program brought together Mothers’ Club members along with their husbands, creating a valuable space for learning and discussion on building supportive, healthy family relationships.

Key Highlights of the Session:
** Maternal Health: Practical guidance on pregnancy care and maternal wellbeing.
** Gender Equality: Promoting equal rights and mutual respect within the household.
** Shared Responsibilities: Encouraging partners to share daily and caregiving responsibilities.
** Family Wellbeing: Tools for fostering a healthy, encouraging family environment.

By engaging both wives and husbands together, JSAC aims to strengthen community awareness and encourage positive family wellbeing from the very roots of the household.

JSAC Empowers Pachchilapalli Communities for Inclusive Education! 📚🤝

JSAC successfully organized a two-day CBO Training Programme on May 14th and 15th, 2026, for 26 active community representatives from the Pachchilapalli Division. Held at the Pachchilapalli Pradeshiya Sabha, this vital training was delivered under the project “BMZ/KNH: Implementation of Inclusive Education in the Northern, Eastern, and Central Provinces of Sri Lanka.”

The primary mission of this JSAC initiative was to enhance awareness, build knowledge, and empower community members to become strong advocates for the rights and needs of Children with Disabilities (CWDs). The training spotlighted effective approaches for community advocacy and social inclusion, focusing deeply on:

* Citizen Voice and Action (CVA): Equipping communities to amplify their voices.

* Right to Information (RTI): Utilizing legal pathways to promote transparency and inclusivity.

Through dynamic group exercises and practical learning activities, participants strengthened their understanding of their roles in advancing inclusive education and ensuring the overall well-being of CWDs. The successful program concluded with highly positive feedback, marking a major milestone in JSAC’s ongoing efforts to boost community engagement and disability rights in Pachchilapalli.

JSAC, "இலங்கையின் வடக்கு, கிழக்கு மற்றும் மத்திய மாகாணங்களில் உட்படுத்தல் கல்வியை நடைமுறைப்படுத்தல்" எனும் BMZ/KNH திட்டத்தின் கீழ், இரண்டு நாள் விசேட பயிற்சி நெறிமுறையைக் கடந்த 2026 மே 14 மற்றும் 15 ஆகிய திகதிகளில் வெற்றிகரமாக நடத்தியுள்ளது. பச்சிலைப்பள்ளி பிரதேச சபை மண்டபத்தில் நடைபெற்ற இப்பயிற்சியில் அப்பகுதியைச் சேர்ந்த 26 சமூகப் பிரதிநிதிகள் உத்தியோகத்தர்களுடன் இணைந்து ஆர்வத்துடன் கலந்துகொண்டனர்.

விழிப்புணர்வும் சமூக உரிமைகளும்: 🛡️✨

தமது கிராமங்களுக்குள் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிச் சிறுவர்களின் (CWDs) உரிமைகள் மற்றும் தேவைகளுக்காகக் குரல் கொடுப்பதற்கும், சமூக உறுப்பினர்களைப் பலப்படுத்துவதற்குமான விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்துவதே இந்த திட்டத்தின் பிரதான நோக்கமாகும். இதன் போது பின்வரும் முக்கிய அணுகுமுறைகள் குறித்து விசேட பயிற்சி வழங்கப்பட்டது:

** குடிமக்களின் குரல் மற்றும் செயல்பாடு (Citizen Voice and Action): சமூக மேம்பாட்டிற்கான கூட்டு விழிப்புணர்வு.
** தகவலறியும் உரிமைச் சட்டம் (RTI): சமூக உள்ளடக்கம் மற்றும் நீதியை நிலைநாட்டுவதற்கான ஒரு முக்கிய வழிமுறை.

Empowering Communities for Inclusive Education in Manthai East 📚🤝

Under the project “BMZ/KNH: Implementation of Inclusive Education in the Northern, Eastern, and Central Provinces of Sri Lanka,” the JSAC successfully conducted a two-day CBO Training Programme on May 19th and 20th, 2026. The sessions brought together 26 active socialists selected from the Manthai East Divisional Secretariat area.

The primary objective of this initiative was to raise awareness, strengthen knowledge, and empower community members to advocate effectively for the rights and needs of Children with Disabilities (CWDs). The training placed a significant focus on vital advocacy tools, including:

* Citizen Voice and Action (CVA): Empowering communities to hold services accountable.
* Right to Information (RTI): Utilizing legal frameworks to ensure social inclusion and transparency.

Through interactive group activities and practical learning, the participants gained a clear understanding of their roles in supporting inclusive education. The training concluded with highly positive feedback, marking a major step forward in enhancing grassroots participation and disability rights within the Manthai East community.

உட்படுத்தல் கல்வியை மேம்படுத்த மாந்தை கிழக்கில் சமூக மட்ட அமைப்புகளுக்கான விசேட பயிற்சி 📚🤝

"இலங்கையின் வடக்கு, கிழக்கு மற்றும் மத்திய மாகாணங்களில் உட்படுத்தல் கல்வியை நடைமுறைப்படுத்தல்" எனும் BMZ/KNH திட்டத்தின் கீழ், JSAC னால் இரண்டு நாள் விசேட பயிற்சி நெறிமுறை கடந்த 2026 மே 19 மற்றும் 20 ஆகிய திகதிகளில் முன்னெடுக்கப்பட்டது. மாந்தை கிழக்கு பிரதேச செயலகப் பிரிவில் நடைபெற்ற இப்பயிற்சியில் அப்பகுதியைச் சேர்ந்த 26 சமூக ஆர்வலர்கள் கலந்துகொண்டனர்.

மாந்தை கிழக்கு சமூகத்திற்குள் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிச் சிறுவர்களின் (CWDs) உரிமைகள் மற்றும் தேவைகளுக்காகக் குரல் கொடுப்பதற்கும், அவர்களைப் பலப்படுத்துவதற்குமான விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்துவதே இப்பயிற்சியின் முக்கிய நோக்கமாகும். இதன் போது பின்வரும் முக்கிய விடயங்கள் குறித்து விசேட கவனம் செலுத்தப்பட்டது:

* குடிமக்களின் குரல் மற்றும் செயல்பாடு (Citizen Voice and Action): சமூக மேம்பாட்டிற்காகக் குரல் கொடுத்தல்.
* தகவலறியும் உரிமைச் சட்டம் (RTI): சமூக உள்ளடக்கம் மற்றும் நீதியை உறுதிப்படுத்துவதற்கான ஒரு முக்கிய கருவியாகப் பயன்படுத்துதல்.

கலந்துரையாடல்கள் மற்றும் குழுச் செயற்பாடுகள் மூலம் நடைபெற்ற இப்பயிற்சியில், உட்படுத்தல் கல்வியை ஆதரிப்பதிலும் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிச் சிறுவர்களின் நல்வாழ்வை மேம்படுத்துவதிலும் தமக்குள்ள பொறுப்புகளைப் பங்கேற்பாளர்கள் தெளிவாகப் புரிந்துகொண்டனர். மாந்தை கிழக்கு சமூக மட்டத்தில் உள்ளடக்கிய கல்வி மற்றும் மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளின் உரிமைகளை வலுப்படுத்துவதில் இந்த வேலைத்திட்டம் ஒரு காத்திரமான பங்களிப்பை வழங்கியுள்ளது.
