Thurstan Interact

The Interact club of Thurstan College is one of the most prominent clubs in the school. We are Thurstan Interact Sachith pieris.

Throughout its history, the club has organized many projects for the betterment of the school while producing leaders to the society. The Interact Club of Thurstan College is one of the most active clubs of the school as well as the interact district. Inaugurated in 1987 this organization has produced many intellectuals like the past rotary governor Rtn. Bobby Seneweera who was the first president

of the Interact club of Thurstan College. Working towards a common goal “SERVING THE SCHOOL AND SOCIETY” the Interact Club of Thurstan College has been commendably successful in their tasks
It was in the mid and late 90’s where the club was at its peak. In 1996, the district interact representative the highest position an interactor could achieve during his or her interact career, was bagged by one of our school past presidents. This individual was Int.p.p.Ifthikar Mohammed who served the club during the period of 1996 to 1997. Another individual to mention is our popular star in the music field Int.p.p. Who is also an icon whom we should be proud of as Thurstan(k)nights he was awarded the best president trophy for his presidency during the period of 2003 and 2004 these are some of the best examples which should be stated to prove the fact that the span of 21 years Thurstan College has always been led by presidents who were all ahead compared to other interactors in the district. These individuals who were molded and fabricated through Thurstan College were indeed outstanding. In the history of interact at Thurstan College the club acquired many district awards and was always appreciated amongst the others for their good work implemented and executed. It is with pride we indicate that we have been able to host many successful projects during this quarter and we believe these have not only benefitted the targeted community groups, but has also been very productive for the interactors themselves. These projects have enhanced the leadership skills organizing skills and most of all the understanding values of our fellow students who has developed in a very visible manner
The batch 2008/2009 which was led by Int.p.p Aadhil Haq obtained many awards such as award for the best newsletter the award for the best interactor the award for the best president the award for the best club award for spirit of interact and the award for the best school based community service project etc. and the 2019/2020 batch which was led by Int.PP Sasanka Ayomal has been able to organize the project RAID which was awarded as the best finance project and 2020/2021 batch which was led by President Muneer has been awarded with the Rotary Citatation,Club Citation, Club president Citation, District Citation, Citation for Good Public Relations, Citation for Executive Board, District Citation for Special Projects and Citation for Rotaract-Interact Relations. Int.Muneer Rizvie was awarded with the Best President Award for the first time in Thurstan Interact History and Interact Club of Thurstan College was awarded as the Best Club Runners up of Interact District 3220. Years 2020/2021 can be considered as the Golden years of Thurstan Interact since many awards have been awarded. Considering all these facts getting the member of the interact club of Thurstan College is truly a privilege.
