Galaxy Gear Smartwatch Reportedly Confirmed for Unveiling at Samsung Unpacked Event in September
On September 4, Samsung is set to take the stage in Berlin and unveil the Galaxy Note 3. While that is pretty much 100% confirmed, there have been talks and even patent filings concerning a Samsung smartwatch, which was first referred to as Samsung Gear. According to SamMobile, they have learned from sources that Galaxy Gear (model number SM-V700) is real, and will be launching alongside the Note 3 on September 4 at the Unpacked event.
The above concept render is based on a patent filing that took place earlier this year. It is reported that the watch will connect perfectly with other Galaxy devices from Samsung (not just the Note 3), and could feature a built-in microphone and speakers. As far as what other features we should expect from Galaxy Gear, there is no telling.

Samsung 2013 Episode 2. Note the date.
The second installment of Samsung's 2013 "Unpacked" event series is scheduled for the first Wednesday in September, just before the annual IFA consumer electronics show kicks off in Berlin. As the sketched invite above confirms, the Galaxy Note III will undoubtedly be the star of this show, which is set to begin at 7PM local time (1PM ET) on September 4th. We'll of course be there to cover the festivities live from the German capital, and Samsung's promised to provide a YouTube livestream feed that you can follow along with as well.

Obama vetoes older iPhone, iPad sales ban won by Samsung at the ITC
An International Trade Commission sales ban won by Samsung against some older iPhone and iPad models has been vetoed by the Obama administration.
The Wall Street Journal tells us this is βthe first time since 1987β that an administration has vetoed a product ban awarded by the ITC.
Accordingly, sales of iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, 3G iPad and 3G iPad 2 models that were found to infringe on a certain standards-essential (FRAND) patent by the ITC back in June will continue in the region. However, we will mention that some of those products are already discontinued, with only the iPhone 4 and iPad 2 still being sold by various retailers and carriers.
The ban was supposed to be enforced starting with August 5.

Samsung develops 'world's fastest' embedded memory, first with eMMC 5.0
The evolution of mobile memory chips keeps moving faster, if Samsung's progress is any indication. Not eight months since churning out those speedy eMMC 4.5 chips, and the company's next version of NAND is already here. Indeed, the South Korean company says it's now in mass production of what it deems as the world's fastest embedded memory. The new eMMC PRO chip is based on 64GB 10nm class NAND flash technology and would be the first to support the eMMC 5.0 standard. The chips will be available in the usual 16, 32 and 64GB iterations and feature an interface speed of 400MB/s. The 32 and 64GB densities in particular boast random read and write speeds of 7,000 IOPS (inputs/outputs per second) and sequential read and write speeds of 250MB/s and 90MB/s respectively. What do all of those numbers mean? Well, they should translate to much better performance when it comes to multitasking, browsing, file transfers, HD video capture, gaming and just general computing. Combined with the firm's upcoming Exynos 5 Octa 5420 SoC, and we're chomping at the bit to see them implemented in Samsung's next generation of mobile devices.
