What Happened: Total Lunar Eclipse Last Night

A total lunar eclipse, popularly known as a "Blood Moon", dazzled observers across Asia, Western Australia, Africa, and Europe during the night of September 7–8, 2025. Earth's shadow fully cloaked the Moon, giving it that eerie, reddish hue we call the "blood moon."

Why the Moon Glows Red (“Blood Moon”)

This dramatic color change stems from Rayleigh scattering — the same atmospheric effect that makes sunsets red. As Earth’s shadow falls on the Moon, shorter (blue) light waves scatter away, while longer red wavelengths bend around Earth and illuminate the lunar surface.
