Empowering Creative minds to drive Positive Change!

This weekend we closed Climate Positive: An Exhibition of Regenerative Possibility, but its roots run far deeper than these past weeks.

The Climate Positive exhibition is just one outcome of the Creative Catalyst Fellowship. In June 2024, ten artists engaged in an immersive residency with scientists, conservationists, academics, and community leaders as mentors, guiding them through ecosystems, data, histories, and lived realities. These encounters built trust, sharpened vision, and helped each artist reconnect with their creative source.

When funding was unexpectedly cut in January this year, it could have ended there. Instead, we reimagined. The exhibition evolved from a large-scale, tech-immersive concept into a more intimate, independent form, holding onto its essence while adapting to reality. That agility, and the trust built over months, is what made this possible, along with the unwavering commitment of our fellows, the generosity of local and diaspora supporters, and the belief of everyone who understood why this work matters.

The response exceeded anything we imagined: full walkthroughs, repeat visits, intergenerational conversations, and organic media coverage - without a single boosted post or paid placement. Sri Lankans stepped forward, giving this work not just visibility, but life.

We close with deep gratitude, for our fellows, our mentors, our partners, and every visitor who took the time to listen, question, and imagine alongside us. This was more than an exhibition. It was a demonstration of what happens when creativity, science, trust, and collective will come together in service of regeneration.

Good Life X works in the creative sector because we see creativity as a catalyst for systemic change. The challenges of our time, ecological, social, and economic, cannot be solved by technical solutions alone. The challenges we face demand new ways of seeing, feeling, and imagining. By connecting artists with scientists, entrepreneurs, and communities, we unlock regenerative thinking that can shift systems.

Slow Seeing and Imagined Futures

Join visual anthropologist and photographer, Munira Mutaher to spend time within the gallery using a series of prompts and simple activities that encourage us to slow down and look, moving past the impulse to make meaning.

The more time we give to something, the more it can give back. By taking things in slowly, we open up space to notice new details, emotions, and ideas - and maybe even spot the quiet signals that guide us forward.

We explore the possibility of how seeing can open up and act as portals to imagine different futures for ourselves. This session is a chance to explore those ideas, through looking and thinking together.

Venue: Barefoot Gallery Colombo
Date: Thurs 7th August
Time: 5.30-6.30pm

Art Walk through “Leela Bhumi” (Playful Earth)

An interactive conversational archival walk with Poornima Jayasinghe, fellow of the Creative Catalyst Fellowship
Presented as part of CoCA: Symbiosis

Enter an immersive sensory experience inspired by Leela Bhumi, a mobile, multifunctional space grounded in Indigenous knowledge systems, ecological memory, and cultural heritage.

On Kemmura days [Wednesdays and Saturdays] the artist invites you to walk with her through Leela Bhūmi, a living, breathing archive held in land, scent, sound, and silence. This is an interactive, conversational art walk activated only when the veil between worlds grows thin. You will walk not to arrive, but to listen, with our bodies, our breath, and our remembering.

Following the walk, the group will gather in a sensory experience shaped by ancestral knowledge, ecological memory, and the material language of plants. Through touch, scent, and intuitive making, together you will co-create gestures of care and communion with the land.

Here, art is not produced. It is offered.
It is not a noun. It is a verb.

Venue: Barefoot Gallery Colombo
Date and Times:
Sat 2nd August 4.30pm - 6.00pm
Wed 6th August 4.30pm - 6.00pm
