The National Photographic Art Society invited me to exhibit some photographs taken by my father and myself as well as other members of the association to exhibit photographs in front of the Negombo beach .
The NPAS makes their annual photographic tour to Negombo with their students where a challenge trophy in the name of my father Dr.M.S.Weerakone is presented to the best photograph taken in Negombo. This award has been presented for over 40 years.
The NPAS members made a unique way of presenting the photographs captured in and around Negombo where all fisherfolk could see some of themselves or their loved ones (Some who are no more) displayed on the fence of the "Kotuwa Pittaniya" grounds.. Further more, educational books were presented to poor schools in the Duwa area. The President of the NPAS Mr.Sanka Sammana and the Mayoress of the Negombo Municipal council was present to give the book to the Principal of the school .

Aug 19 th was the world photography day. The event was organized by the All Island Photographic Studio Association of Srilanka . Coincidentally there was a photographic Compitition organized. It was held at ShanGri-la hotel Hambantota.
