Dreams change. I've had the dreams of the lovers I see along Marine Drive holding hands with their backs against the sun. How tiny the world of 'You and I' is. How tiny, yet infinite! I remember the anxiety and the excitement of "not yet' and 'when". The dreams pinned on those precious 'ifs'. The brown eyes. The sighs. I remember the heartache....

25th August 2023 - 8 days off Instagram I keep picking up my phone wanting to check the app and realise I have nothing but a message on Whatsapp. I feel deflated every time. I used Instagram to get my news, find out what my peers were up to, and feel good/bad about where I was spiritually/professionally. Now, I only go on the Internet to check my Google feed and to send more messages to family and friends, and look up hotels for future trips!...

There were a few things that made me aware of a great force I didn't understand when I was a child. I don't know when it exactly started but as long as I remember I loved sitting on the front steps of my house to lean forward or strain my neck up to witness the pin pricks of light that shone through the dark frames the branches of the mango trees created in front of our house....

99 pages in, here are my thoughts of Olivia Fox Cabane's intriguing read The premise of "The Charisma Myth' is enticing. Cabane begins with a story of Marilyn Monroe boarding a train and going completely unrecognized, until, when she disembarks she tells the photographer she's with, "Do you want to see her?'. Suddenly, with a fluff and a pose, the magic of Marilyn's appeal "ripple(s) from her"....

This book has to be one of the most difficult I've read. But, one chapter in, and I was fully invested in the world of the characters. I couldn't help but listen to their story. But, if you do decide to read 'Mornings...', be prepared to have your mind and senses assaulted. Abulhawa dives into the tragedy and the injustice of Israeli occupation in Palestine from page one....

We discovered the walking streets of Bangkok's China Town just last week. Amongst our finds, this 230 year old Chinese home on the banks of the Chao Phraya river.
The place really intrigued me. The entry fee was purchasing something at the house's 'cafe'. We chose some of their home-made ice cream and took a load off.
After enjoying the cool respite from BKK's heat, I began to imagine the life of its ancient inhabitants. 230 years!!!!
